Hi, I can't find anything on removing my ignition barrel from my LC. These barrels are in the lower dash, not the steering columns like the LJs.
It has a little pin hole next to where the key goes. Is that part of it.
Cheers

Insert the ignition key and insert a suitable size pin type tool or maybe a paper clip may work into that hole.
Can't remember which position (OFF, ON, START) you need to have the lock cylinder in though to enable removal of the lock cylinder from the ignition switch.

Thanks Dave, but could you be more specific please.
I put a pin tool in the hole, but what after that? I still cant get the barrel out.
To put this in context. I need to get to the ignition so I can solder a bridge for my AMP gauge.
Looking forward to your reply on this.

I don't understand why you would need to remove the ignition switch to wire up your Ammeter? The wiring connector unplugs off the back of the switch.

Ah, ok.. then I can't unplug the wiring connector. haha

Put the ignition lock to the ACC position. Put the pin in. Hold the pin in and turn the lock counter clockwise. It will pop out

To remove the complete ignition switch assy from the lower instrument panel you need to remove (unscrew) the chrome escutcheon around the lock cylinder.

Cheers Dave, No your right I just need to unplug the wiring connector, but I can't unclip it, and I don't want to have sex with it.
I haven't taken a bra off in a while.

Good work Glenn.
I was just about to tell you about the two barbed pieces on the wiring plug that need to be released from the ignition switch.

If you have a compressor, blown air into the hole. This removes residual crap. Next, spray some CRC or equivalent in the hole. Squirt CRC also on the key...……..insert and see what happens? No luck?Grab the key with a pair of multigrips and try again...………..wiggle wiggle...…….wiggle wiggle

Thanks again Rod.
I cut new keys about 6 weeks back. I was using one of these when this happened. Original key would not work either. I will keep an eye on it. Maybe the tumbler is on its way out. If it happens again I will look into a new barrel.
Cheers
