Hey guys,

I am wanting some advise on what diff to put into my LH torana. I have removed the 6 cy and am putting a 308 approx 300hp with a turbo 350auto. I currently have a The original banjo in it as was wondering weather I can keep it and change over the centre with 355gears or do I need to put another diff in it? Trying to save $$.

What is my best option and outcome?

Thanks Ezza

Depends what your using the car for, as a cruiser or you running it at the drags? Strength wise the banjo will be fine if you are just cruising, but if you start giving it a bootfull from a standing start you'll break a coarse spline axle, fine spline would be better,  and possibly the spider gears if your spinning wheels. With 355 gears its going to be revving a bit at freeway speeds, like alot,

Im with brett. If u putt around it will be ok but the one day you show off at the lights it will let you down. Id either chase down a salisbury or get a vr-vs commodore borgwarner diff made up. Plenty strong enough reasonably small plenty of gear sets available lsd. 9 inch is way overkill but you can pick them up for a toza reasonably cheap. Good luck cheers jake

Thanks guys! What is the best gear ratio to run in the rear end?

I am not going to drag it having said that I will be tempted to give it a hard time from time to time!!

How much will a borgwarner cost vs a 9inch? I have been looking around and he best prise on a 9in drum breaks for my LH was $3,400 fited.

Ezza!

I would imagine you could find a 9 inch at a swapmeet for around 1000-1500 bucks ish. You could prob get a commo diff for $300-400 then get it shortened and the mounts welded on to suit for around $1000 Im not sure how wide the standard torana diff is but i no the vr diff fits in a hk really well.
