G'day all,
Iv got a question about slick size for a LH sedan. Now Iv already cut out the standard wheel tubs a few years ago & I would like to tub the car to the rail, I might go as far as cutting the entire boot floor out as I want to run coil overs.

I want to know how people go about deciding both tire width & tire diameter before they tub the car. If I go say...275+ width & a 29" tall tire will that require stretching the guards & does that also put the diff not centre in the wheel arches?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers, Nig.

How much clearance does the tire need inside the tubs?
Like does a 29" tire hight need a 30" diameter wheel tub or bigger is what I want to know.

Cheers, Nig.

Ps, I'm not sure why the mods moved this from Fabrication to here in Drag Racing part of the forum.

Hi WA1TNC, I just had a competition engineering 4 link rear end & tubs fitted to my LC & in the instructions they suggest at least 3" clearance between the tub & the tyre & at least 1" on the sidewall clearance, but I would go at least 1.5 - 2.0" on the sidewall,

Hope this helps you out

Thanks mate, that's the info I was after. Basically if I wanted a specific tire size then I'd need that info on how much gap between it & the rest of the car.

Cheers, Nig.
