Just wondering if a Hatch will lose any structural integrity in the boot cavity area if the false floor sheet metal is unpicked / removed.

Especially this bit, I would leave the boot latch though.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

i think you might lose a bit of strength but have a look at your LX sedan behind the tail lights and a LX hatch boot floor between the arches if you can to get some ideas .

There is no metal (the folded strip of steel with cut out holes) in the boot compartment behind the taillights of an LX sedan. There is however, on an LH.

But why remove it in the first place?

Yes it will weaken the structure if you f=remove it and do not take steps to reinfirce the area in some other way.

Why would you want to remove it?

Just playing with the idea of a deeper boot compartment.
I need to reconstruct the corners where they join anyway since it was cut out for the lx taillights - thought I'd ask the question first to cure my curiosity.

It was an interesting find about the LX's and LH's though.

I think it would look really clean with it removed. but yeh i'd be cauious that it may lose some strength after.
