First checks.

Remove air cleaner. Operate throttle. Does fuel squirt into carby? If yes it should at least fire.

Remove distributor cap. Turn on ignition. Use screwdriver to open and close points. Is there sparking? If yes go to next.

Replace distributor cap. Check for spark at end of leads when winding over. If spark present check plugs.

Another way to check spark is to put a screwdriver into a spark plug lead, hold screwdriver near ground, turn motor over. You should see a spark.

cheers

Dont hold the screwdriver, position it so it sits freely near a ground.

I say this from experience.

Get Mrs to hold screwdriver

Easier than trying to see a spark

I have never used the product you mentioned but Im guessing its fouled you plugs.

If you want to keep them remove and clean with something like Carby Cleaner (Repco or Burson) otherwise replace them.

If this doesn't work try the "cook book" approach suggested by Rob above.

Cheers Brian

If it is firing with start ya bastard then you can rule out electrics/spark pretty much.

Dont use too much of the starter. You could cause damage.

Check if the carb gives a squirt when you open the throttle.

Probably need to pull carby off and clean it.

Would also check o make sure the fuel pump is pumping ok as well.

My Pink GTR wouldn't start after winding it over for ages, bit of juice down the carby and started like a dream, not been started for ages, I assumed carby been so dry for ages it would not work until some fuel poured down it

Yeah I think too once you get it fired up the fuel pump works a lot faster than when it is cranking from the starter.

I have done the same with my cars too.

Start Ya Bastard should do the same thing really.

Did it actually start with the Start Ya Bastard?

If not, I still reckon you're not getting a good enough spark.

It should fire and run for a few seconds at least (depending on how much you put in)

Hi Brad,

Just back tracking a bit the car started before you use the conditioner.?

So I'm also guessing it continued to run after you used the conditioner?

And now it won't start.

Rob from above is right be careful with Aerostart, but I suggest you jump in the car hold the throttle about a 1/4 and crank it over while some gives it a shot of Aerostart .
Don't be scared to give it another shot of aero, once it fires hold the revs up.

Cheers Brian

May have found the problem the carby is not squirting fuel so it might be the accelerator pump could be the problem,Also we drain some of the fuel into a 2 litre coke bottle and it was yellow in colour and smelt a bit stale.I put $40 of premium 98 octane fuel at portsmith fuels here in cairns about 3-4 weeks ago.i am going to ring weber performance on monday to send my carby down and get the problem fix.

PULP always looks like good piss on a Sundy arve...take the carb off and strip it down on a clean bench...they are not a mystery type of carb.

A bit more "refined" in terms of "tuning" but operate the same as (almost) every other carb.

Get a bit of an understanding on how a carby works..they are a bit more complicated than what most people think.

PULP is shit fuel unless you have the right CR.   ..it is hard to burn depending on engine set up.

Other than that get a "feel" for how/what is going on...

If it is not pumping then it needs looking at...the smallest hole on the pump nozzles is about .35mm ...the idle jets are are a bit bigger..,.the mains you can usually drive a train through...all in all..pull it apart and have a look..and spread it out as it came apart so that it can go back together the same way.

And don't hurry with it..there are bits of info around to help   :)
