Hi everyone,

Hopefully in the near future I will start to make a few rust replacement sections for LH-LX toranas. The first item that I am working on is new tail light buckets. Luckily I have collected a few N.O.S. items over the years and I was fortunate enough to find a new tail light bucket many years ago so I have a good example to compare to and get as correct as possible. My question to everybody in the torana world is what other panels do people need for their projects? My aim is to make the panels/ patches that are currently not available, but having said that if people tell me that a product on the market is of poor quality an doesn't fit I may be able to make one myself as long as I have a genuine panel to work off for measurements.

My panels will be made by hand and not pressed overseas so I will not be making them in enormous numbers and with low overheads I hope to keep the prices affordable. If all goes well I may be able to look at panels for other toranas and even other cars in the future but to start with it will be LH-LX's as I know them best (I have six of them in various conditions).

Looking forward to your feedback on what panels/ rust replacement patches you are looking for to complete your projects, and any other thoughts you have on what I can manufacture in the near future.

Cheers,      Grant

I think we would all like replacement shells. Sills that fit properly would be nice.

Hey Daz,

The hatchback hinge frame section in the roof is always a trouble spot for hatchback toranas. Two of my hatchbacks have major problems in this area (I did only pay $300 recently for the whole car so it was to be expected) and I was going to see if I could make one for my cars so I will call it a prototype and see what it looks like. As for the C pillars they are made up from several sections so I will see if I can work out how to make it. I have also had to fix the plenium chamber on one of my cars but I'm not sure if making complete plenium chamber bases is the answer or just repair what is in the car. I'll have a bit of a think about that one.

Vick,

Complete body shells may be a bit too big of a job for me but I do have a pair of hatchback sills in N.O.S. to copy so I will see how I go with them.

Madmax,

I do have a rear panel to suit a LH-LX in N.O.S. so I was going to have a go at making one perhaps over Christmas, so I will see how it turns out.

Cheers,   Grant

You can put me down for a few of them hinge sections if you're happy with the prototype :)

Sounds like you have some great skills!

All of the above

Plus cowl inners for the rusted out plenum chambers

Cowl corners for the bits either side of the plenum grille

Almost all of the old hatchback... haha

How about door front corners where they always rust thru on the shell of the door... not the skin ?

I think I have some NOS whole and partial LX hatchback quarters around somewhere if you want to start making sections. I did have nose, guards etc as well but got rid of those when I got rid of the last of the Toranas I had. I even had a NOS whole hatch panel at one stage!

Radiator support panel sections would be good. As far as I know, only the lower section is available at the moment...

G'day Grant
I sent through a PM to you last Saturday, not sure you received it so I'll post it up here as well.

Could you make the hatch corner channel ??

There is a number of us in need of a good quality corner channel for our hatches that
Rare Spares can't deliver & the items are not quite right that's why they have withdrawn their
corner channel from sale.
Let us know if you need a original template to go off or if you can go off one of the four
Hatches you have.......ya lucky bugger. Ha ha

Cheers Aaron

Radiator support panel and front guards / fenders would be great!

A conversion kit for UC to LX i would think would be a winner too..

I have been thinking about a conversion for uc-lx rear lights. Must rear cuts are pretty rusty so would suit conversion or replacement for lh , lx .Maybe a weld in panel to fill gap when fitting lh front guards to uc inner guards would be viable too. Glad to hear you are looking at these type of parts.

GMH-01X, missed this post earlier... We have retooled up for the hatch corners, test fitted them in an LX hatch here with great results.

They are on shelf ready for sale - http://www.rarespare...=repair channel

Edan
