Nice work Andrew,

I am following as I have an LS1 project going on and trying to work out the best option.

If you do make these or a kit I would like to know more, have been to the Speedhut website since reading your post and I like their gauges and would probably go for a digital speedo with indicator and hi-beam lights, tacho and quad gauge.

Have to wait and see how my first instrument experiment goes using the VZ Commodore dash though

Hope your progress is eas, good luck

Cheers, Tom

This project is still going (for anyone who is following)

Have been let down by 2 graphic artists so far, so I'm still in search of a good one to finish the fascia.

Everything else is ready to go.....

Once this is done, I will be making a second version to suit the quad gauge also.

Thinking of selling these as a kit form or complete converted unit if there is any interest.

I would be interested in a kit or even complete unit. looks great so far!

I see your in Perth, if your still looking for a graphic designer my friends business is called Graffic Jam, in Kenwick. Try him. Don't know if he can help do what you want but he is a good bloke. Tell him Gary from Corinthian Family said to try him.

We need to see this finished!! :)

I'll be interested in a laser plate and sticker kit as well, if your selling off your extras

Would be very keen on a kit. I've seen all these posts people have had recently about redesigning their dashes and I have been interested on doing it myself

That answers a few questions I had Neil !   No wonder they never answer my calls.

OK, I'm now in search (again) for a reliable graphic artist to put the last bits together to complete this project.

Any decent graphic artists in Perth that anyone knows about ?

For those asking how much.....

Once the graphic design is complete, I will have an idea on pricing.

I will offer a do it yourself kit (supply your own cluster housing and buy your own speedhut gauges)

and I can do the full conversions on a job by job basis.

The Speedhut gauges are the expensive part.

Do you know if you can set the speedo part to the k's of the car?

I don't know mate.

I'll flick Speedhut an email and find out.

I checked their FAQ and the answer is yes. extract below:

Yes, we can do that for you.

For Electronic Programmable Speedometers and Dual GPS Speedometers (GPS combo gauges):
Please tell us your miles (or kilometers if it is a metric speedometer) in the 'Gauge Notes' or in the 'Order Notes'. We will add the miles to the odometer in the factory. Alternately, if you already own one of these speedometers you can send it back to us and we can program the miles into the odometer.

If you have a standalone GPS Speedometer then you can program the odometer yourself.
For standalone GPS Speedometer only (non-combo):
1. Connect the antenna and power on the GPS Speedometer.
2. After it acquires signal from the satellites, cycle through the menus until the Speedhut phone number is displayed.
3a. At this point press and hold the button until it tells you to release the button.
3b. Press and hold the button again until it tells you to release the button.
4. The gauge will start doing a self-test and the pointer will start moving. Wait until the screen displays "ODOMETER" then press and hold the button until you access the Odometer menu.
5. The Odometer menu will display '000000' with some simple instructions. Use the instructions to change the odometer mileage.
6. Once you have selected the desired mileage let it time out and it will save the new mileage.

This weeks update.....

As I want to keep the installed dash fascia looking neat and tidy, I need to relocate the mode and select buttons to a new area.

This weeks project is to make a mounting bracket with switches that can be mounted in a few different locations.

The button for the speedo would be used a bit, but Tach and quad gauge buttons are set and forget.

I'm also looking at the cluster illumination.

Should be a good week in the shed !

Looking forward to the results. Are you going to use led strip lighting? Would be cool to get a nice uniform illumination across the dash, unlike the stock dash

I have plans for those speedhut gauges myself

Especially a GPS speedo that needs no connection to the box

Genuine concern here, how do they go in motorway tunnels etc?

My gps drops out?

We only have one tunnel here

And I'd go thru it probably twice a year

Realistically most people can judge their speed enough to get thru a tunnel can't they ?
