Got a question for you fellas.

What are your personal experiences on what its cost you to get machine work done on a red 6?

Im not talking assembly, just machinework.

Ive been getting some work done and would just like a price comparison.

Block-Chemically clean, bore, deck, fit cam bearings and welsh p[lugs (supplied by me)

Head-Chemically clean and service. Skim the head. No seats, just a valve job with fresh guides and reassemble.

Linish the crank.

And press pistons onto chemically cleaned rods. No other work to rods.

Chemically clean sump, pickup and rocker cover.

Im waiting on a bill, and am just curious as to others experiences.

Cheers, fellas.

A clever bloke like you could do that with a dunny brush hone, scraper, a bit of wet n dry and a warding file.

I thought some of you blokes would be all over this.

Ballpark figures would benefit many.

Years ago, I got a quote to machine a 308 block, crank rods   and reco heads.

I was going to get all the parts, pistons, rings, bearings, timing gear, gaskets ETC.

I was going to do all the assembly.

After adding up all the pricing,   it was cheaper to get the same engine builder that quoted just for the machining

to do a full reco,  that's all the machining all the parts and the assembled   AND came with a warranty.

It was 2K paint.

If you ad the valves, grinding, springs etc it gets up around the $800 mark.

This is a no fuss, value for your dollar, honest quality engine builder.

My engine builder quoted 3k for a 202 short motor, balanced, bored , bearings etc and assembled.

Thought it sounded a tad high but maybe not.

I liked the bit workshop supplies.

Really think stuff like that should not be extra.

That should be in the pricing already
