G'day All

Was down at the Culcairn Show 'n Shine Swap Meet on Sunday and there was some very nice Toranas there and upon meeting the owners I found that they didn't now much of Toranafest  :wtf:

But they do now  :spoton:

The owners of these 2 schmick Toranas are very interested in going to the Fest next year

The Dawning of the Age of Aquarius

Didn't meet the other owners of these cars

This fella was smart and left early probably because of the bloody heat

Culcairn-7.jpg

A couple of cars to catch my eye was this HR sleeper

Culcairn-12.jpg

AND this is the reason why it is a sleeper

Culcairn-8.jpg

And for a few $$$$$$$$$$$$$'s you can have this FC

And even though this one is a Holden, to me, some one has hit it with the Ugly Stick

This one I missed with the other Torana pics and it is VEDDY NOICE

Culcairn-13.jpg

Not only were there cars there but some nice bikes and this being the only "old" bike there and being so "as found", I couldn't miss out on taking a photo or 3 or 4

Culcairn-14.jpg

Some HOLDEN MUSCLE

Culcairn-15.jpg

Culcairn-16.jpg

Culcairn-17.jpg

Not a muscle car but very desirable

Culcairn-18.jpg

A "newish" Chev

Culcairn-19.jpg

And Jed Clampett's "old" Chev

Culcairn-20.jpg

The only Fraud I liked there, a 1934 5 window coupe V8 side valve

Culcairn-21.jpg

I did take more pics but that is not unusual for me

I was there Barry, spotted the SS, but I never saw you... Normally you don't stray too far away... I wasn't there real long though, it was a real scorcher by 9am

I suspect lots of people know but have busy lives and jobs that keep them away.
There is also the usual yob and knob factor associated with these type of events which puts a lot of people off

If you want Toranafest to become a larger event it needs to be expanded to other states. If it came to Vic you would definitely be looking at a big turnout provided it was a weekend show. Facebook would definitely help promote it as its not unusual to get over 500 cars at an old school cruise night which is predominantly from Facebook.

Scorcher at 9 am, you should have been there at 12 when I left  :wtf:

It was so hot I thought I saw an evil lookin' fella in red with horns on his head, red pointed tail and carrying a red pitchfork walking around eyeing off the Fraud people  :blink2:

Not really trying to advertise it Adam, just letting those know about the Fest who "don't" know about the Fest and as you have eluded others to, I don't like face-ache, mainly due to the trouble it has caused with young people

If it is used properly, to catch up with family and friends it is great, but it is just like a motor car and is prone to abuse by the drivers

Thanks Rob.
Like I said it's too far away. I have been to plenty of similar events over the years and they are what they are. If you enjoy that style of stuff then go and enjoy.
The static shows leave me cold to be honest. The usual cliques hanging out with the cars a silent sideshow to the boozing. Kind of like going to the museum.
Give me a summernats or easternats instead anytime. It's like a visit to the zoo in many respects with the animals alive everywhere.

There's no drinking at Toranafest. I won't say no one has had a beer there ever, but it's not a piss-up.

You wouldn't find more knobs & yobs  at Summer Nats.

Toranafest is a good family friendly show & not just a static show, they have runs & get togethers on Saturdays.

Good event.

To some extent I agree with Rexy.

Don't get me wrong - I lurve TF and I am stoked it is coming back.

But like Rexy says, there is something about static shows that leaves it all...I don't know...lacking somehow.

Cars are the subject of songs, poems, movies and ultimately: culture - they are 'alive' as Rexy suggests and this is where static shows let it all down.

Mind you, it's not like I have a remedy in mind for any different type of format, nor would I ever take a car to the Nats and drive it around.

Nevertheless I do appreciate what Rexy is saying.

What I really like about TF is the gatherings at Motto Farm, the cars turning up in all manner of ways, cars rolling about the place, the noise, the smell (of the cars as opposed to the overflowing septic!) and meeting all manner of folk.

HVTC put on a great event and evidence of this is the excitement the resumption of TF has generated - kudos to them.

Cheers, TB

I'd go even with no cars present just to meet some of the characters of this forum.

Rexy? Do race your cars? On track?

I also luv SummerNats..... but the two are chalk and cheese......  ToranaFest is as you have said, a static display, but it is a display of the best Torana's in OZ, where the story is as important as the paint work.....    Summernats, has the best show cars of any make in OZ... and the quality has to been seen to be believed, and on top of that  you have Rock Bands, Strippers, Burnouts...   both have their merits, but entirely different .............
