Would anyone happen to know the length of the steering shaft between the rag joint on uni joint in the steering? Mine is missing so I need to make one up from bar stock. I think the steering column may have collapsed a bit so don't want to make one from my measurements between joints in case it's moved. Thanks!

The slightest wear (or mistake in machining) translates to a considerable amount of slop by the time it gets to the driver. I'd be buying a real one.

With the correct diameter shaft and the right tapered pins that won't be an issue, its not like the factory ones are high quality

That's brilliant 76lxHatch! Thanks for the heads up on the potential slop issue, I'll machine one up so I can get the rolling shell steering at least. I'll see how it turns out.
