Has anyone read this little publication? "One man's story building a Torana for historic racing.........." A bit like a build thread in paperback. I picked it up on ebay - arrived this afternoon, so am looking forward to having a read. Seems like some very interesting stuff for anyone interested in building a car for circuit racing.

I read this a little while back. Really enjoyed it. I'm in the slow process myself of building a car to group Nc specs, so I found the info really helpful. It also gives an insight into the long process, money spent and the excessive amount of bad luck that seems to happen the minute you label your car a "race car"! Glad I'm not the only one who has so many dramas!!!

Enjoy the read.

Cheers
Dave

Im thinking of doing a book " strike me red" /

then " how to restore your GTR "

After this it's " get your wallet out and spend thoes lobsters ( 20 bills) racing tuition "

then " turning a race car back to a street car"

then how to pimp your wheel chair ! LOL

should be 80 by then.

I'm bloody going to find that book

ha ha Grant....but there is some serious message in your comment mate.....when you ARE 80, you WILL be able to look back and say
""Yeah..I'did all that stuff""....followed by the chorus, normally sung by a blokes missus...""...and what did it cost?...""

I always just say...""about 2 pairs of shoes..""

Just let her know that the Torana is cheaper than a mistress, you can spend more on it then. Lol

Not a lot of tehnical detail but I enjoyed reading it. Just an ordinary bloke trying to build up an LJ on a small budget and go racing. Certainly enough information to help put together a circuit car. Also a couple of references to old magazine articles that would be worth chasing up.

Hi Grant, what's the date? do I need to join HSRCA? Or is membership of another club + CAMS L2S sufficient?

Steve

Whoops it's wakefield.

http://www.hsrca.com...istoric-summer/

no you just need a;

speed S2 license

but you need to be part of a club either a normal club or join the HSRCA but to have a Speed S2 license you needed to nominate a cams club

a new pair  of shoes for the missus - kiss and a wave goodbye !

come down for practice friday - sort the car

stay at the ASTOR hotel where by the best friday night in Goulburn is had until 2am - 230 tops for two nights with double bed and a single

racing saturday - back to the astor for a steak and beer and a chat

racing sunday - pack up and home

It's very social and the short track for the torana's is awesome.

PS-  for others who want to do regularity it's fine and no one will bingle you torana.

PS - word on the street is 2ELCs is entering the green machine  to give everyone a shake up - stay tuned on this
