1.  firstly, is this on 14 x 8's, and 14 x 10's?
2.  and what tyres would it probably be wearing.

also, if i bought these..

17x7 17x8 wheels for early Holden EH EJ HD HT and some Torana HK HT 5x108

3.  what would the widest tyres i could fit on the front 7's,
4.  and back 8's? (imagine not above 225 on the fronts so can turn the wheel at low speed.. without busting a poop valve that is??)

5.  here is a car wearing them, and i don't think they've pushed the limit?? or have they?
6,  and, anyone riding these?
7.  bolt straight on without adjustments?

am asking because i am on a budget build and don't think i can afford 275 rears etc unless i put on 17 inch rims.
..and not buy 14x8 and 14x10 hotwires until tatts comes in.

I used to run 14x7 and 14x8 on my LX hatchback with 245/50 front and 265/50 rear. It had a proper ride height (not lowered much as I wanted it to handle properly, may have been down an inch) and the front guards had to be rolled, firewall join bashed flat and the rear lip removed above the tyres. I'd say that green hatchback would have similar mods. The wheels were HX LE front and widened ones at the back (inch inwards with spacers to push back out).

In 17's you'd probably want 225 front and maybe 245 rear and you may get away without some of the butchering I had to do, especially if you can use 40 or 45 aspect tyres eg 225/45 front and 245/40 rea I'd actually be tempted to get 7" all around and run the same tyres on all 4 corners like a 235/40/17 or something like that.

If you are going to flare it, I would cut away as much of the guard as possible otherwise don't flare it. I could of cut more away on mine, (right up to the bolts), reduces stress on tyre clearance and at no real cosmetic cost.

I was looking at Cragar S/S 17's or American Racing VN500's. I got the wheels delivered from summit and R17 245/275 tyres fitted for about $2500 .

Cheaper torana stud pattern second hand stuff is available for about 1k with tyres in 14/15'' rims. This might be the best as some 17'' wheel makers don't do torana stud pattern and you need to upgrade to HQ.

yel

will be flared, and will be bashing and butchering like you, so as to get as wide as poss. am hoping to go wider rear than front... but both looking excessively wide regardless.

untill can afford 10 rears am considering using spacers like you, so as to suit :)

it's a hard decision ollie.

'trying' to avoid old school 14/15's.

am thinking 17's with low profile

...which means...

accessible 275 rears for $165 each unfitted.

will cut guards, but raised?/satndard? rear, "low" front/30mm

and, the rims i have shown/linked are machined/drilled for standard torana, not hq
