Just seeing what most people prefer as a v8 swap, 308 or sbc? Do you think one has a better resale? I can't decide , I've got both motors laying around. And yes I spoke to my engineer today and you can still do a 5lt engine swap in nsw.

Go chev , I stayed with a 308 with my LH and now regret it . Decent 308s are hard to find , most around here are too far out in the bore and most poeple seem to like leaving them out in the weather to fill up with water before they sell them .

Is this for an LC/LJ or LH/LX? You list the latter in your profile so I'll assume LH/LX.

Download and read NCOP3_Section_LA from this website:

http://www.infrastru...n/vsb_ncop.aspx

It has guidelines on what you can and can't do.

Basically if you fit any engine that was an option from the factory then you don't need to bother with an engineer's report, but a SBC was never an option so will require a visit to an engineer regardless of the capacity.

Chev it mate IMHO, gives you a big rang of capacities to choose from and probably cheaper to build, good luck.

If I had my time over I would go chev. More options and parts are cheaper from the US.

The holden route will likely be cheaper. Plenty of power to be had out of a plastic these days. I doubt the Chev equivalent of injected 304/T700 will be cheap. If money is not a factor then the chev is the go, LS style of course...

So with the Chev do you have to modify the crossmember for sump clearance ?

Not 100% which one you need mate, just know it needs to be rear pick up, have a look online there's plenty on there they say suit chev into LC LJ.

Cheers Bullet
