Hi, Was wondering what was the rule of thumb on the float levels on the CD 175, I set mine level with the gasget face but it appears to be very lean . Mixtures are at 2 and a half turns which should be roughly right. The motor only runs good when the chokes are right on which takes me back to the float levels. The engine is brand new but has been sitting for about 12 months maybe i need to pull them back off and clean them out again. The diaphrams are all good but it just leans out when you go to rev it up from idle. Also i have screwed out the mixtures but this seems to not help either. If any one can give me an idea where to set the floats it would be a good starting point. Fuel flow is good it has an electric pump. Have a great Festive season to all members, Cheers Graham

I set mine at about 17mm for point 'B'.

What psi are you running your fuel pump at?

Hi David, Thankyou for that info very helpfull. This looks about where i set mine but will pull them off and set them to the 17mm. It will be nice to find out what is wrong possibly some old fuel has dried and turned to jelly maybe? As for the fuel pressure i have not checked it as it has a good steady flow when pumping into a bottle but will check it just the same. This fuel is weird stuff these days it seems to not flow like the good old stuff we had back in the 70s. Will slip down the back shortly and pull them off and have a look. Something must show up as being wrong will get back after i know more, Cheers Graham

Make sure the fuel bowl vent hole isn't blocked off.

Well just finished pulling them off and yes they had corrosion and a varnish type build up around the main needle and base jet . The mixture adjustment made no difference because of the base jet being stuck to the o ring seal. All is free and cleaned out now and is running like a new one. The floats all were around the 17mm mark so did not touch them. Thankyou Darway43 and SPack for your help did check bowl vent all ok. It appears i will need soon a new diaphram on the back carbie though. I will have to get it going a bit more often to keep every thing free and moveing. Cheers Graham
