Gday everyone...

I am planing on going on next Wednesday for a run and just have a few questions in regards to scrutineering...

I am aware that I need a coolant overflow/ catch bottle... What size does this need to be? Is the 600 odd mm coke bottle still considered acceptable? i know it was in the past...

Also, I am running an open breather on my rocker cover- no oil catch can as yet and no PCV valve... Is this acceptable?

And finally, how fussy are they with tyres? i have brand new front tyres, but one of my back yokahamas has some wear from where is rubs on the guard occasionally when I pull into my driveway (it always rubs on one bloody spot its annoying)... They are still getting quite good grip but the scrutineer wont know that just by looking at them...

Any advice would be much appreciated...

Yes the 600ml bottle is accepted as long as it is securely attached.

The breather i am unsure about. Might have to call Sydney Dragway and find out. Im sure ive seen cars pass though.

Tyres arent an issue. Most cars there are usually smooth anyway! As long as theres no belts or chance of popping and rim damaging the track, this should be fine.

They are pretty anal about things such as battery secured, overflow, helmet, long clothing and neutral safety switch. Other than that it is a quick look and you are all good!

It's been a while since I was there but they used to not allow glycol-based coolant even with a catch bottle.

Thanks for the replies... I just got off the phone- it sounds like I should be ok... Coke bottle is fine apparently- they said however, that if it isn't, they will help find something to get me out there...

What was the ruling on the breather?

Well- it was somewhat vague... Basically they said its on the discretion of the scrutineers... They said typically they are fine but they cannot guarantee that the scrutineer on the day will be happy with it.

I have made up a makeshift catch can though, which I will install if they have problems with the breather...
