im looking at painting my rims in plasti dip (matt black).

im still debating weather to do the whole lot or just the centers of the rims?

In time i will be going a set of customs but at this stage i dont have the $$$$$ for that.

I'd say save your cash and buy some nice rims.

Hell is even go without food and Jack Daniels for a few weeks just to have anything else. :)

Yeah personally i think anything would make those ass ugly rims look better, including a thermonuclear weapon.

All black, try to hide them as much as you can.

Cheers.

Maybe there's someone here who's handy with Photoshop who could give you a preview of what it'd look like?

i can disagree with that at all. its only costing me $50 to paint them so ill give it a go just to hide them a bit.

they where just cheap and fitted at the time.

in time ill prob pick from 1 of the 4 below.

Your not the only one Marty.
I think staying period correct is the way to go, personally I don't like modern big diameter wheels on an old car. Are there any dragway 5 spokes or Simmons's available, they would be worth saving up for.

Paint the centre's only and leave the chrome rim to break it up, wheels painted all black look butt ugly IMO

I agree with James on period correct wheels Simmons, Dragway or Hotwires they do look good although it seems that every 3rd Torana has those wheels, if you want to be different go for one of the rims you've show above which are nice looking rims btw.
Getting the wheels photoshopped onto your hatch to see what they look like would be the go & probably seal the deal.

Good luck with your decision Jason and do what you want to do its your car dude.

get some kids water based paint and just paint one and see how it looks.....should cost about $5 , then wash it off  when your are done.

Like your hatch too....but I'm an old school wheel guy too......but 100% your choice.

Get some Simmons V5's for that thing mate in a gold or maybe a grey colour and your car would look how it should.

Should take a peek on Centerline's site too...they do some clearance 2 piece billet wheels that can be made to suit back spacing and prices are pretty cheap...they have one or two that look sorta like the first wheel in your pics.

Like the kids water based paint idea try boot polish or crayon

I think I recall the scrutineers using white boot polish at the drag races to out the numbers on windows and it comes off easy

Or if you have time to spare use black tape

Not sure mate but I do see them occasionally for sale on ebay and the like.

For the record I like Jeff's rims too and I'm pretty sure Jeff had some made up he was selling to people over here.

The ones I have are no longer made....I had bought up all of the last of the centers actually..sold one set and have one spare set in the garage. :)

(A guy here was going to do a cast copy of them...mine are forged center....but not sure how he went with them and if they are still going or not?)

Seeing the pic in black has me thinking twice. I do and don't like the black look.
Just need a change from what I have.

When I seen the Corvette style rim I thought they would look alright but now i've done a 180. They make your car look too Commodore'ish.

Not a huge selection of wheels on that app but would like to see what it looks like with the infinity Gunmetal rim?

And the other problem with the corvette ones, is they use a big back spacing like most late model stuff so they look flush, with no lip...which looks a little odd to me personally at least on older stuff...

And speaking of different color wheels...here was some photoshop a friend did a little while back for me, lol.. :D
