Been putting this Paseo together since July 2013 when I gave up on my 4.5 year long at the time Econovan project, due to just being completely over it and running into major hurdles with unseen rust.

This Paseo started life as a relatively clean 5E-FE powered 4 speed auto, nothing special. It was my sisters car for a year or so until she bought a new car, and then it just sat there unused. After getting rid of the van, I soon had the itch for a new project. My sister didn't want it, and with no rego and needing a bit of a tidy up in the paint department, it wasn't worth anything. In exchange for not paying for the parts I bought when it did a headgasket in early 2012, she gave the car to me and the rest is history.

A few phone calls and I had a low km EP82 era 4EFTE with manual box and LT-8s microtech. Then a TF035 and matching manifold and dump......pulled the old motor and auto out and started the build. As it stands its about 90% complete, just need to work out the bugs and do a final tune. My boilermaker mate did all the intake piping, exhaust, wastegate spur, intercooler brackets and a heap of other little bits of fab work, my mechanic mate helped us out with the motor and in general and I wired the car and pretty much done work all around the thing.

I'll let the pics do the talking.

That looks fun. Will the stock front bumper fit back on? Will it be a sleeper or riced out?

Bumper fits back on after some generous trimming from the rear, apart from the gauges on the dash visible and the sports steering wheel it looks dead stock. Hubcaps and all, do have some wider 15" mags to go on, traction with the no name 14" tyres is laughable.

Well time for an update, still not really driving it, getting things re-done that I wasn't happy with the first time, so I've fixed up little things, getting a smaller exhaust system (2.5 vs the 3 inch system on there now) and plumbing back the external gate.

Got a set of ROH 16" mags for it and just got 4 new tyres, new front pads and rotors, rear pads on the way, front and rear struts and springs, strut tops still to come, so it can stop handling like a bag of molasses.

Hopefully I'll get this thing done soon, it's only been 2 years. The Torana still hiding away at my workshop until I get this thing done so I really want to finish this, mate has been doing my welding but there's things he does that I don't really agree with, like the angle at which the wastegate was plumbed back and I just feel like a Cunning Stunt having to tell him when he did it for nothing. Anyone have this problem when having mates do stuff for you, they do it and mean well but then it's just not right and you don't know how to tell them?

Well all is good and shes together with new struts and springs all round, new pads and rotors up front, new pads up the rear, bit more work to stop the exhaust knocking around underneath, and got the manifold, turbo exhaust housing and dump pipe coated and wastegate plumbed back. All back in, added a few brackets to everything that rattled or knocked. Goes good and feels good although I think one or both of the inner CV's are rooted (still originals) as there is a lot of lash in the driveline. Just need to refit one A/C line and re-gas the system and that will be operational again (will be handy with this heat). Heat sleeved the water lines to the turbo, a bunch of other small stuff etc. She did a round trip from Campbelltown to Hurstville and back without a drama so yeah, very happy. Clutch was also slipping after about a dozen gear changes which was a sticking slave cyl but replaced both master and slave to be sure.

Ran 14.1 at Eastern creek. Hot night though, didn't let tyre pressures down and didn't get it re tuned before hand. Still pretty impressive. Need to get a good launch happening.
