Hi guys.just tidying up my heater box to sell for more funds for the car and interested to know is there a specific

brand you's are using or recommend to seal the front of core to heater box.would expander foam work?

Also the foam on the door flap is completely perished...any help would be great.cheers  Attached File  torrie pics 282.jpg   122.74K   6 downloads

Hi Maz,
I wouldn't use expanding foam spray (if that's what you mean)
I used a thin foam yellow in colour to wrap around core to give it an air tightish seal.
Used the same stuff to glue onto flap of heater floor diverter.
Check my heater box thread, it's in my list of threads on the Marty report.

I would think that ordinary sponge would get wet from the moisture in the air, rot and eventually smell. I would use thin rubber sheet cut to size.

I rebuilt my heater box last year, I used door seal strip from Bunnings on all the flaps, and where the heater core mounts I used non Harding windscreen sealant rubber, on assembly test all the doors for smooth operation I had some high spots in the black moulding that was causing a jerking operation , all fixed

yeah i wont go sponge .its too loose and would fall to bits in no time.

where did you put the sealant Brian on the door or where the door shuts.

i see what you have done marty to seal the two tubes.i wiil get some black sealant too to run around edges so all heat stays the box just

incase i dont cut it out too well.

that foam around core seems to have done the job.just looking at the other door for cold air and it seems to have something similar to felt running around edges maybe thats the go

Pretty sure originally the core had the foam glued to it.  Just have a look around Clarke Rubber for something your happy with.

I put foam seal strips where the flaps shut, I also used rubber sealant around the core in places to ensure heater wouldn't enter the box ares and engine bay to coolant pipes
