Hi Jordan

Not 100% on UC set up but if it the same as LX with the brackets coming off the underside in front of the tank that will not do

If it is the same set up i would get a length of brooker rod cut it to lengths -- nut on top of the support bracket and one on the underside to fix it in place

This will lock it in tight

You need the length in it to pull the straps tight under the tank

If there is an LX or UC around somewhere handy have a look underneath

The factory set up is on page 172 of the LX  parts catalogue to give you an idea of how it should look

Hope this is of help

The tanks are different but pretty sure the way they are mounted is of the same principal

Could be wrong but i think the bolts were quite long (about 2 inches?) for 2 reasons.

(1) so that it made life a bit easier to get them started while fitting that end of strap then to be tightened.

(2) to make life hard many years down the track to get them out due to road grim rust etc.

If you go with the long bolt, probably would't hurt to oil the bolt before fitting and then once tight slip a piece of

neat fitting plastic tube on exposed thread to stop a bit of gunk getting on the threads to make life easier when you need

to remove the tank.

Hi all. I'm helping UC kid work on his car and if anyone could give some dimensions for the bolts would be fantastic. As in its a 1/4" x 2 1/2" as an example.

Yep you are right Brett --- 2 1/2 x 3/8 UNC threaded all the way to the head of the bolt

I posted the above while at work -- at home now and had a look

Has a Flat washer above and none below the mounting point - wouldn't hurt the put one both sides

Sorry to bump and old thread but thought best to keep the continuity.  I've just trial fitted the tank back in (original tank) and couldn't get there with 2 1/2 inch bolts.  I needed 3 1/2 inch and even when I have it relatively tight, I don't think the shorter ones would capture.  Cheers Ron

Shelly the straps are in the first picture in this thread

There is two bolts that hold them on the rear of the car and the diff end has a hole that fits over the fixed studs pictured above

The end of the strap that has the 90 degree bend on them goes over these

Shelly, if you need any further pics I have just re-installed my tank. The bolts that fit the rear (bumper end) of the straps are not your standard bolts. Cheers Ron
