hi all

thought i would start restoring where mike finished of after much debate with panel shop it was decided to get the c completely blasted back to metal and primed  ( gbt blasters at wingfeild john top job ) i was a bit sceptical on what was under all that paint turn out to be not as bad as what i thought ? still running original boot with minor pitting, engine bay in good condition with repair work required under battery tray, rear quarter panel requiring panel work  ,floor in good condition requiring little work , roof needs panel work , the rest as you know was repaired by mike so over all should be a good project , all panel work / spray painting will be done by panel shop . all panels where required will be lead wiped and filled ? as project goes i will post photos ?

cheers john

well done John.. Its about time.. Whats the rest of the car like rust/dodgy work wise? Much to do?

It would of been nice to have had the car blasted before I got to it.. would have made the job easier and we would of found ALL the defects.. But we didnt know..Just adjust doors turned out to be a FULL resto....

Hope all goes well....

Mike

hi mike

yes it would of made sense to blast whole car but as discussed at early stages our intensions were only to fix the a pillars + some ? sht happens  , as far as dodgy work goes you found most of it ? and repaired  (a 1 ) we no the car has race history ? only verbally  NO PROOF BUT WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHO SAT THERE ASS IN IT ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED  but all signs are there to confirm ?  hence heavy handed filler  roof, quarter panel , but no rust ,

slight pitting in boot  and floor , just goes to show  a car may be able to take trophies and shine like the sun but you will never know what lurks ? but i would think a car with race history would be exactly what i got if it had no bog no dents cover up it just wasn't pushed to its limits ?  i suppose if you could afford a car that has been well documented  full restoration that would be the only way i would bye pay top dollar ? but ease of mind ?

looking forward to the build

cheers

hi all

received engine back from machine shop (criss milton motors ) after having  some machine work done block re sleeved back to 30th yes 30 th only way to go 0th was to buy forged pistons wast of $ for this combination ,

i went with hypatec pistons with moly rings ,all the usual work that goes with rebuild ,rebore& hone cylinders, hone bore with torque plate, hone bore to suit moly rings ,plateau brush hone bore ,resize&line hone 7 main tunnel,

fit cam bearings, wagott 104 cam dialled in , fit heavy duty big end bolts, grind crankshaft journals. balance crankshaft, super linish crankshaft, face block 0 deck height ,crack test ,arp con rod bolt set ,act act

head work done by and old mate peter schaffer (performance technique )  screw in studs ,double valve springs, ported, flow tested, cc to 49,

10.5 should be good combination ,

cd fitted with new throttle shaft, butterflies ,reemed with new seals, kit through out, as well as larger jets .needles act

few parts still at zinc plater to complete should be in k frame by weeks end ? all zinc plating was done in house using homemade zinc bath anything gold / yellow or to big was sent out fuel line, brake lines act works a treat
