Used Beta rubber in Qld and had no probs

Doors needed a bit of a slam at the start but have put silicone spray on the rubber and left them closed -- a lot better now

The rubbers fitted well

Boot rubber is fine

screens fitted well

Yes, Rares Spares rubbers are a good fit & little 'Rubber Magic' spray helps with initial bedding in.

I used a betta kit, had multiple issues and found them rather tedious to work with, rectifying one particular issue took me no less than 8 phone calls, including a phone call to there "glass installation specialist" (a windscreen fitter they use) so he could "tell me what i was doing wrong", which resulted in him informing me that the particular item i was having issues with was never right, and they had released an updated version that was much better during the time since when i purchased the kit and when i went to install it.....This is after Betta tellign me that the particular item they had never changed...hmmm....*coughbullshitcough*

The kit IMO was better than the Rares kit that i had installed in the car some years earlier, but rares state that they have improved the majority of the kit, and i have heard some good things about the current kit. But i do hate to say it, Rares really seem not a whole lot better with customer service in most cases. A few items i've simply given up trying to communicate problems with them.

I would go Rares if i was to do it again (again again?) and will likely use Rares for my HB resto and any rubbers i need for my VC build.

This was for a LJ though.

Cheers.

I think Bomber has got it in one.

Many rubber kits (including Rares) weren't that great years ago, but they have improved over time.

If you have had dramas in the past, it doesn't necessarily mean that you will have trouble today.

These companies cannot afford to continually sell crappy products.

The beauty of this forum is that you can comment on the quality (good or bad) of products without resorting to carrying on like children.

As most guys know, this forum is actually sponsored by Rare Spares & it in your interest to intelligently debate any dramas you may have with these type of products.

Without companies like Rare Spares our hobby would be worse off, so positive input will benefit all of us.

BTW, I have no financial interest in Rares, just a long involvement in our hobby.

If you have problems/issues with a product we are more than happy to discuss it. AquaSLR5000, if you commit to buy one of our rubber kits and have any queries with fitment we are up the road a bit in Campbellfield, feel free to give us a call at head office (03) 9305 4000.

We also have a couple of fitment videos on our LH LX Torana product - door seals, door belts and bailey channels in the shed talk section of our website www.rarespares.net.au/shedtalk/default.aspx which may give you some more piece of mind.....

i bought some Rares rubber products back in the late 80's,never had a problem back then, can't see why there would be a problem now,it's not like you change a mould or something just for the sake of it,i think even back then they were selling "bits" to GMH? ,

dunno,would buy again from them.

I'm still building ours and its current issues, his kits he is selling has known issues guess what they are not owning up or fixing them just waiting for us to call and complain

Door rubbers Not Mitred

Rear quarter windows can't shut the windows

Front screen 1" too short on height and 1-2'' too narrow across screen

The screen pissed me off cause I paid for our beater to come in on a weekend and fit them, goes in sets up tries and tries no luck, rings the guy oh yeah they are two short yes I'm aware of that, um well why did you send the kit only just on the Thursday ????

So on the Monday I call and say mate you just cost me a Saturdays wage for a faulty product you were aware of two days earlier and shipped it, no they are perfect nothing wrong with them...... hang on you owned up on Saturday they where wrong kicks off calls me everything under the sun swears and screams at me, I told then that feedback and character is alot in a small web world

Still not happy now, 2 months on door rubbers wrong , yeah I'm aware of them not having mitre's,,,,,,, really again

Now quarters I'm not even bothering

He's a tool and would not give him 5c of extinguish him with wee if he was on fire

Thanks for all the feed back guys. I have had a lengthy conversation with Greg from rare spares just the other day about other non related Torana issues but I did bring up many past problems that ive had with their stuff. Greg has assured me about the lengths that Rare Spares are going to, to improve their products and feed back from us is used to help them help us.

I will give Rare Spares a go with their rubbers partly from the feed back here but more so from the Gregs call to me about a rubber bush I sooked about on another forum.

Thanks Greg, your follow up was pretty bloody good.

The rare spares kits have improved a lot, they were shocking 5-10 years ago but the last 2 I have fitted recently are pretty good and not much worth complaining about.

The betta ones, well let's just say I wouldn't use them again

I fitted a full Betta kit to my 4dr LX a few years ago and I have no complaints at all.

All rubbers fitted perfectly. Only issue is a few of the doors are hard to close...but I've never done anything about it as it's not bad (further striker/latch adjustment, Rares magic spray or silicone spray).
