Hi all, just wondering if any one has had any experiance with ELF trailer's.

Have been looking out on Gumtree S.E.Q for a good nick second hand one, but these Elf trailers caught my eye.with around 1500kg tare capacity

http://www.ebay.com....#ht_2736wt_1155

or this version with without the mid section

http://www.ebay.com....#ht_3037wt_1155

Looks like il be towing the monza home (engine less) maybe  a bit over 1200kg?

This Trik Trailers look good, http://www.ebay.com....8#ht_1510wt_918

but out of me price range.

One last Question:

Is it alot hassle to re cert a trailer for increased GVM after upgrading brakes & suspension later on down the track?

Cheers

It's not just brakes, suspension and tyres. Chassis flex and the draw bar strength come into it as well.

Hi Yella

I bought one of these http://www.ebay.com....=item337c023913  put a electric winch on it, built a tailgate for it , have done about 20,000 km so far towing anything from cars, timber, steel and dirt, its always handy to have a trailer with sides, the folded chequer plate reduces flex, haven't had any problems so far except a couple of blowouts  ( most trailer builders put on second hand shit tires), there are several companies that make a similar product for a similar price.

Cheers

Bought the same trailer and had a blowout too.
Terrific trailer. About to do the electric winch conversion. Any info and pics of your new setup appreciated David.

thanks wombat & mr taxi :)
ive got a single axle 7x5 trailer so im not to worried about the sides.
More concerned abot the rear. The elf trailers above have beaver rear :) which probaly sounds alot better then it is . Not keen on rippen off the front spoiler or drop tank, but a good tilt style trailer is out of budget range that i have allowed (mrs stil doesnt know) in my mind. When i think about it have to wear an Xmen Magneto helmet so she cant access my thoughts :(

Ended up getting 2nd hand semi Enclosed Trailer beaver tail.
Was very close to geting a tandem Tilta trailer.
Went to their factory on Brisbane north side.
They look alot stronger up close then what they appear from Google pics.
But i was swayed towards the semi Enclosed due the distance of my trip.

Had some dramma's with the electric winch.
When i was guna unload. Lucky i had a 2nd person to help. Do people carry spare solenoids or hand winchs if the electric one fails?

I got my box trailer upgraded to 1400kg GTM (1540kg ATM) and it needed an Engineers report. Also had to show that professionals did the welding, and show the rating of the new leaf springs and the axle etc on invoices.

I also got the car trailer increased to 3000kg and that was easier as I got the original builder to do it, and when it was built originally it was built as a 3000kg trailer but only had front axle brakes on it and no breakaway (I had to add all that).

For a trailer mob in Sydney also talk to Holiday Trailers in Yagoona (I think it is Yagoona).
