Depends on how much you are willing to cut, how you want it to look, and what you're willing to pay for tyres.

A 265/50 will fit easily enough once the guards are cut out, and look pretty good. A 285/40 gives a bit more width but they are expensive and in my opinion look a little strange in the lower profile/small diameter. A 295/50 can be made to fit with more cutting, or the car will end up sitting higher. Wider still is possible but tyres can be very difficult to get and probably best suit a wider wheel.

Agreed! 265/50 most common. 295/50 would be about the max for a 10" rim, and will be a tight squeeze, you'll need to cut like crazy and be careful of ride height. 285/40's are perfect if you have money to spend. The other option I like is the 275/50 (readily available in MT ET street radials, not sure about normal street tyres).

You will need a fair amount of work to clear those in front, depending on the wheel offset

I have had 265's on the front with a 9.5 inch wheel and 5.5 inch backspace and just had clearance, plenty of negative camber. Flairs had the usual wedges taken out for maximum clearance etc.

Overall diameter matters most in front, a 235/60 is probably slightly taller than a 265/50. Will need firewall work as well as flares

In the foreground is a 275/50/15 on a 10 inch Hotwire. Back right is a 275/50/15 ET Street on a 8.5 inch convo pro.

By plenty of negative camber, how much are you talking? More than -2?

I know it looks tough having a massive rear tire and big dish rim, but don't you guy's worry about the track difference front to rear and how shit it handles with a larger track rear ?

I've just fitted 245/40/17's all round on 8 inch rims..... it does rub at lock at the front on firewall and chassis rail but its not that bad(but does suck! am considering modifying rail and firewall a little). This has bought the track front to rear to ~5mm from the same and the handling difference from my old staggered 10" rear rim and 8" front is very welcomed with horsepower, much nicer on turn-in and oversteer ;)

From memory, with the larger rear A9X flares, there was a significant disparity in the front/rear wheel width (hence track) and yet they seemed to handle ok?

As with most of these things, the answer is always "it depends" (on other components). The difference between front and rear track has a significant but quite predictable effect on under/over steer, you can tune your suspension to deal with it. I would be more concerned with having too much rubber on the rear compared to the front, that's going to make it push no matter what you do. But then that doesn't affect the straight line crowd.

Personally I like them to be reasonably even for aesthetics if nothing else, but it is nice to have them similar to make suspension setup easy too. My front track is actually 5mm wider than the rear, but the rear tyres are 20mm wider.
