.

Hello everyone...
I've been trying to mod my LH for a “factory look” Hydraulic clutch..
Haven't been on for a while but have been looking reading...

Just wondering and excuse me if I haven’t searched this site and the “web” properly for the info But...

Also, apologies in advance to everyone if I sound arrogant, as I don’t mean to..

Have any members, already done or thinking of the same mods, thought of just extending the Clutch pedal arm in an LH/LX so it pivots from where its supposed to pivot from ..
Like, hanging from the same bolt/rod or height that the Brake pedal pivots on if, I presume, Holden actually designed the original LH/LX clutch to be Hydraulic rather than Cable...

All the LH/LX Torana conversions I’ve seen so far, some are expensive and or look complicated and weird...
Personally, don’t like the look of the clutch master sticking up from the firewall like erect male genitalia.

Any thoughts from anyone, before I start ripping/cutting some parts of the pedal bracket up?

They look good but complicated and anyway, I’ve already started cutting and doing it like old blue eyes, this morning ..

See what happens....

more pics;

After Removing the (7 long approx.) Brake Pedal Bolt the bracket had to cut with a 1mm disk and yanked out.

A new clutch tube was machined by Geotool Engineering in Bayswater, WA for $70 from 30mm steel rod..

121.4mm long with a 17.5mm (11/16) hole drilled right through it, to fit the 2 end nylon bushes and the original clutch tube.

Bushings are used and as per the Original clutch cable pedal bracket..

And no...I haven't worked out a bush for the actual clutch push rod.(as you can see).

I mean, there isn't one on the existing brake rod, so I'll tackle that later..

And I still have to work on the previous fire wall holes that some Bodgie has done previous work on..
(disclaimer) Not that there's anything wrong with that, being a Bodgie.....an all?

Finished....( & few more pictures)

Parts:

Wilwood 260-11972, machined clutch tube, cable clutch pedal on Ebay, bits of scrap steel..

Total cost for physical items around $400...

Labour costs where Free..because I had this gullible old pensioner guy, that follows me around all day, do all the work for me..and I sometimes see him in the mirror...

Interesting... I don't think anyone likes the look of the angled ones pointing up towards the bonnet lol.

How does this thing go for V8 rocker cover clearance?

.

V8 rocker clearance?

I have a 350/383 chev in my 74 LH and it clears just fine, although I think I will put a metal shield just under the master cylinder, just in case because I've gone for Rams Horn exhaust manifolds and they look like cast iron heaters..

Not sure if the 308 clearance is an issue..

But..Oops!..

I haven't included a picture of that...so here it is..

Yeah it does look good. I feel that a VN headed Holden V8 may sit a little wider in that area, but I am not all that sure.

yep for sure it does.

i had to mod my rocker cover to clear the hadfield set up thats on a angle

not sure if the above would clear them,,

if you ran a smaller booster there is no reason why the above could not be moved across towards the booster more.

just have to weld up the original holes and redrill new ones..

..

I don’t think you need to get a smaller booster.
You may be able to re-position the master clutch Upwards, rather than across, about an inch, maybe? (if bonnet height permits).
You just have to make the push arm shorter (about an inch) and get either larger bore master or a smaller bore slave clutch, to compensate for a decreased distance of travel as a result of the shorter arm..

BTW...
Is anyone on this forum using a 7” booster..??
Seen them advertised and I have been thinking about buying/using one for my 79 Trans Am..
I now major have clearance issues ever since putting in rocker stud girdles and taller rocker covers.
ASnd..my vacuum reading is pretty low now, like around 13hg, because the the flipping high overlap, me thinks...
