LX Headlight surrounds - polishing question

Are LX headlight surrounds aluminium? And therefore can the anodising be removed with caustic soda and then metal polished. I have searched but didn't really find exactly what I was after. Thankyou

As far as I'm aware they would be aluminium just like all the other models, so yes you can polish them after removing the coating.

Apparantly caustic soda likes aluminium but could be wrong...just what i heard from someone who tried cleaning ally in caustic and ended up with not much left?

I cleaned mine up with steel wool then polished them with metal polish. They came up nicely.
