I bought a QL block and the block had a X stamped before the QL
the bore is standard.
the stamped X is out of line and is deeper than the standard holden offering numbers
Any ideas on this.
will reduce photo and post.

Yep, July '76 onward red 202 with auto trans only, the cast date should confirm.
Guessing XQL8010xx should be around September/October '76?

AFAIK it was from a HQ one tonner with a low comp head.- saw the ute it came out of from the country.
I will check the cast date BUT have never seen the X
bloody hell , ill have to go down the garage now in the cold and check !

I don't know why but for some reason GMH used Holden engines in auto LX 6cyl ADR27A Toranas, whereas the manual 6cyl ADR27A Toranas got Torana engines.
The X was stamped in the assembly plant to denote it was going in a Torana rather than a Holden. The rest of the number was stamped at the engine plant at Fisherman's Bend. It was done at the same time and for the same reason that a Statesman engine was stamped with 11 or 12 - to denote it was in a Statesman rather than a Holden.
