This is one of my favourites for many reasons including the character that is DJ.

I fund his commentary candid, insightful, reliable and benevolent.

Dick Johnson drives Peter Brock's A9X Torana around Bathurst - Top Gear Australia segment.

https://www.youtube....h?v=NLO3Z7-9dzc

My other was a visit to the HRT at Eastern Creek in 1997 where a good friend had tee'd up a visit for my Buck's Party - in hindsight it is amazing to see what a good humoured letter from my best man could achieve with the likes of HRT PR-Man Paul 'Wally' Weissel facilitating this visit.

The time with PB (albeit fleeting) and the sit I had in 05 (VR/VS V8SC) was fantastic, as was PB signing my little 1996 HRT Biante model thereafter.

Seemed it was (perhaps) the first time he'd signed a car model because he seemed genuinely perplexed at first as to exactly how to do it.

Having said that, I've never had an original idea in my life and so probably was not, but I have to say, his questions to me as how to sign such a thing suggested to me otherwise.

Also significant was the impression made by a (then) young Greg Murphy - been a fan ever since and I even made a bit of coin off of him when down at the TAB when up at Bathurst in 2003 following his renowned 'lap of the Gods'.

Cheers, TB

Hell yeah....   Thx for sharing ..TB & Steve ... Brocky means so much more to people than just a car racer...   I remember when I got con'd in to the Readers Digest Prize deal.. lol, and It asked if you won  what celebrity would you like to present the prize..  and I put P Brock down...  The only time my close friends would turn on me,  was at Bathurst time..  because even though we were good friends... that all went out the window at Bathurst time..  it was Holden & Ford, Brock & Moffat, and lines were drawn, and punches would fly..   and funnily enough, the same people are still Ford or Holden fans...  but we all know who makes the best Australian cars  :)

I met Peter Brock once. And once upon a time I revered the man. And it is at this point that I miss Devils Advocate, because there are always two sides to a story and DA was great at presenting the unpopular but nonetheless often true side. But our knob gobbling moderators have silenced him and anyone else who would have a dissenting opinion and that is a shame. That is not their fault. They know not what they do. Their low IQs do not allow them to see the full picture, such is their bogan desire to support the sheep mentality.  Anyway, Peter, when presented with the alternate reality, by me in the form of a certain book (which I will shortly find), was gracious enough to sign it anyway, such was his professionalism. His comment to me was that “it’s a great fable isn’t it?”. I do not agree that is a fable but somewhere between what was written therein and the popular myth, was the truth. The book is titled, “The Rise and Fall of Peter Brock”.

I had a chance to meet him on his last day but instead rushed off to work.

Not sure I'll ever forgive myself.

I still have a couple of books I was given as gifts that I have hardly opened cause thinking about it makes me sad.

Might sound pathetic but it's true.

Goodaye all

Met Peter a couple of times in a club enviroment.

Had a lot of time for members and spoke well.

Was passionate in what he believed in.

Was a great race driver and built great road cars.

But was human.

Yeah that's what I was gonna say too.

Makes sense, they would have been in the same team in 97 I think.

It is Greg Murphy's signature - team mate to PB in 1997.

As we all know Brock was a human being like all of us, it just so happens because he was a celebrity his floors were publicised to the masses. I'm sure you are no angel so stop being a dick.

I did a driving course at Sandown (early '90s), it was arranged by Jim Murcott's Advanced Driving  setup but the two 'trainers' were Peter Brock and Jim Richards.

They had two 4 cylinder hire cars and took the 'students' around in those showing lines, braking points etc, things got a little exciting between Peter and Jim as each tried to out brake and out corner each other. Those poor hire cars were down to the metal backing plates after this (but no panel damage). Also, as part of the day, I had PB drive my old V8 VN manual around the circuit with me in the passenger seat and then, later on in the day,  I got to drive him around for a lap. At day's end we all congregated at the local Hotel afterwards, great day!

I went for a Holden drive day at. Oran park with the Holden team , it was a Monaro promotion day

When it came to getting in the cars for a run around the track Brock looks at me and says get in I thought you bloody beauty

Well he was in a great mood that day he threw the car into a couple of full opposite lock sides at around 140 while having a general

Chat to me at the same time but the part that impressed me the most is when we went into the pits at full speed I look at Peter

Smiling and thinking frock n hell ,, he says in my day it was all part of the track ,

Was he a show off Hell yes but I think he earnt the right to be

It still makes me laugh thinking about that day
