I am about to finish the heater in the LC , under the dash the plastic demister vent has black material tape over the vent , to the body , to hold the top in place and stop vibration I guess , would this be factory ? It can only be seen because the glove box is out .

Tape shouldn't be required to hold the demister ducting in position. Sounds like the retaining lugs on the duct outlet are not locking properly into the slots in dash panel.

Thanks Dave I'll check that out , there doesn't appear to be any damage .
