Hi, Does anyone know how to remove the body of the mirror from the mount on the LX sports mirrors?

I want to rechrome the base pieces.

Thanks Andrew

There is a nut holding it on.

Would have to remove the mirror from its mount I would think.

Is there a certain way to release the mirror head?

Hopefully without breaking the mirror.

Thanks Andrew

Not that I know of.

Be gentle.

Think its double sided tape so may come free with persistence.

I have heard of gently applying heat with a hair dryer may help to loosen the glue holding the mirror.

Ok the way I did it was to use a long thin blade (box cutter) to cut the double sided tape between

the pivot and the mirror to remove the glass. Then you will see the pivot base is glued into the main

body (kind of rectangle shape). This needs to be heated carefully with a heat gun and slowly prised

away from the main body to reveal the nut to the base. Hope this makes sence-it's not that difficult

just take your time.
