Ok Christopher! You roped me into this one.. It's in the build now so hopefully, it will be on the dyno in a few weeks.. This combo is a little different from the norm though..

Specs are;  factory 4 bolt main block, ported YT-3 heads, 365 custom crank + 30 thou over = 372 ci, TP SP hi-rise manifold, custom grind Hyd-roller cam & lifters, Bullet forged pistons, Scat Q-lite H rods, Priority oil system mods, Lightened valves & springs etc.

Anyway, I think that's enough for the moment..

Wow. The enjoyment of finally getting all the machining done, parts all there, then putting it all together.
Then the day comes to first start it and run the cam in.
I never get sick of it.

Exciting times indeed!
Its not without its frustrations tho, having trouble Getting the crank to spin freely once torqued down. Its spins ok without the endcap so hoping it'll free up once the new rope seal beds in.

Also is it normal for the fuel pump drive lug on the cam to be short?

It's mainly a streeter but I will do some club circuit days so a dry sump is not practical for me..

The oil priority just redirects some flow (that mainly ends up in heads) towards cam journals, lifters etc & a more even distribution through the oil galleries where it's needed..

Also drain back is modified so that all the oil is not falling over the rotating assembly.. Also, I decide to go with the ASR club-circuit pan..

I can't go into too much detail with the oil mods as it's secret squirrel business with the engine builder lol

I have to ask, are you assembling the engine in your kitchen?

If so, I love it :) Great idea! Not sure how my misses would feel though if I tried it... I am generally barred from the kitchen as it is let alone if I had a crank on the side bench hahahaha

Great work. I love assembling engines.

The crank won't spin freely with a new rope seal, you'll be fine.

If you purchased a new cam to suit VN heads then yes, the locating dowel will be short. VN-on engines didn't have a mechanical fuel pump so Holden deleted the fuel pump eccentric and instead used a large hardened washer to hold the timing gear on the front of the crank.

If you want to use a mechanical fuel pump then you will need to knock the locating pin out of an early cam and fit that to your new cam.

Cheers struggler. I ended up putting a spot weld to hold the eccentric in place to the timing gear.

I was told if you couldn't spin the motor with a six inch shifter it was too tight. So i was stressing. I put my torque wrench on the crank and it takes about 90nm to turn. Will this burn out my seal? Or will it just bed in?

WOW, a spot weld.

How did the rear seal go, is it bed in now?
