Good Afternoon Torana People

I thought I would show you all my Torana project

I have a 6/71 LC 4 Door 2600 SL its a 1 Owner " Bought off my Grand Mother"

I am going to be putting a 1JZGTE engine and Auto gearbox in the old girl.  My plan is to leave the car close to 100% original on the out side and the inside.  The plan is to swap all running gear from the LC to a combination of 1JZ and LC parts.

I have bought all "new" haha parts to replace the original torana running gear so that in many years time I can return the car back to its factory state.

If there are any people out there that have done this any help would be great

the reason for the 1J is getting it all  legal these days I can only go up to a 2886cc turbo or super charged engine and keep it all legal

Still plenty of power to be had from a 1jz (supra's aint light), in an LC it'll be a weapon!

Not worth stressing over 1J vs. 2J. The JZX forum is chockers with people pulling 400kW atw from a VVT 1JZ-GTE with a set of cams, the right bolt-ons and an R154. Even that thing stock will be a fast car.

Why not manual?

Maybe you're thinking of V160's or V161's?

I see R154's for sale every week and they aren't even pricey.

Can you PM me where you find these cheap R154 Supra boxes please. You must know something we don't as they are not cheap, nor easy, to get a hold of these days

A lot of money $5-7000 for a second box 6speed and have read there a good strong box.

Funny you see r154's each week but try and buy them. I bought a 1jz and auto for my LC and went looking for a r154 and couldn't find one anywhere in Australia. The U.S. was not a problem but still very few. One of my customer builds Toyota boxes for a living rang all Australia for me, couldn't find one either and he know everyone. I'm still waiting for about half dozen companies to get back about their R154 for sale, never got one return email. I had a R154 behind my 300hp LC GTR, broke the engine, clutch but not the box.

I've got my R154 and my TKO so I don't need to buy any, but they are not that hard to attain for about $3k. ido09s, PM Sent.

People on here are always sobbing about them being hard to find and they ruin all these otherwise great cars with two pedals lol. Case in point, posted two hours ago with bellhousing:

Jzx100 R154 remote shift gearbox with manual tailshaft $2500

Sorry to steal the thread
