Hey guy’s,

Going through my bits and pieces and noticed the ignition tabs on my LC lower switch panel are broken off, so the ignition switch is not held in place.  The lower panel is in ok condition apart from this.  Does anyone have a pic of how it should look when it’s not broken, or have any suggestions how to fix it.  Pretty sure I could fix it if I had an idea of how it should look.

Middle hole looks like it had a ring of some sort attached to three posts.

Ignition switch in place but nothing to hold it.

Isn't there a metal plate that attaches to the plastic that they screw on to?

Thanks guys hey Mike that looks good thanks so it's just a plastic ring that sits on the inside radius, and guessing the inside diameter needs to be snug on the ignition switch. Thanks for the pics I will go through my stuff and see if I can find something that matches. Member "Torana?" raised a good point, am I missing a bracket or something or does the chrome face of the ignition switch rest on the plastic ring then that large bolt behind it hold the ignition in place against this plastic ring?

Hey Mike, just wondering, purely as a matter of interest, would it be viable to fully weld the ring in place rather than just those 3 original spots or would it interfere with the fitment of the ignition switch?.

there is a bracket that holds the three switches in place.. and the small threaded ring that holds the iginition face to the palstic ring.

Dave.. havnt thought of that.. dont know why its like that.. Ill try with the next one..

Yeah I was thinking that too Dave to fix it all the way around rather than the three legs. Will have a look and see if there is any reason why GMH did it like that and if anything will be fouled by gluing it all the way around.

That's a beautiful job you did there Mike thanks for the pics. I think I'm missing that metal bracket to hold the switches in place. That could be a bit of a show stopper. I will have to have another look through my boxes of bits. My car is a complete bitsa nothing is original and most parts I own have been collected from various wreckers over the years when Toranas were a dime a dozen. I miss those days!

Yeah too true Graham!

Cheers Mike really appreciate it mate. Will check my spares boxes tonight but pretty sure I only have the bracket for the lighter / choke side.

Thanks,

Steve.

Hi Mike if you do have a spare bracket for the ignition side let me know. Had a look and I only have the left side bracket for the lighter/choke side.

Thanks
Steve
