How does the hatchback centre console secure at the front?
Can't see how it goes.

On the top of the console (dash end) there are 2 holes. 2 plates around 50mm long link these 2 holes to the metal part of the dash each side. The plate attaches to the console with 2 plugs (the sort called boat or banana plugs) and at the other end where it attaches to the dash a button head screw is used. The plate holes are slotted at one end.

Many of the consoles I have seen have the holes damaged.

bottom or top?

Cheers Kirk. Was going say both but I can see the slotted holes to attach to the floor.
Is there supposed to be bracket on the floor for this or does it screw direct to the tunnel?
My car doesn't have any holes or brackets in front of the shifter.

Is this the holes? Will need to make a plate to fix the top to the dash.

Of course if any pictures are available for these two attach points /brackets /plates would be most welcome.

There is a reasonable diagram on page 552 of the LX Torana Parts Catalogue scanned by GML-31.

Found the diagram, explains all. Thanks guys.

Will need to make up the dash to console link plates (those plugs mentioned arent identified on the diagram but will be able to use rubber plugs)

Floor bracket is there, after putting this thing back together for the last 3 years I should have noticed it sitting there! (old picture)
