So was the A9X fan run by a Lucas motor like the wipers and heater fan?

Not sure, but I can tell you that a pair of fan motors with the same blades as the A9X mounted in front of a 3 row HZ 6cyl radiator (same as A9X but opposite spouts) doesn't keep the car all that cool. Mine used to overheat in traffic, was just enough for a 6cyl but I doubt it'd be all that effective on a V8.

I used to run the single A/C fan, no other fan, as per A9X in a 308 HJ th400 with no cooling issues what so ever.

What that picture does not show is the attachment ring with 3 holes, that goes between the fan and motor, its welded to the bracket.

Have one on our madeira A9X but you would need to pull it a part to take a pic, Maybe RedA9X has one in his big collection of bits? Its pretty much just a ring thats about 1cm wide by 1.2mm thick that bolts to the fan motor and has 3 bolt holes. Have seen a few motors that only have 2 and they will not bolt up to the original bracket.
