I never said it is not nice (but not help full)

But really it was meant to help and I think we me you and all are here was to help learn and see toranas on the road but I think we have lost that

ASK YOUR SELF why are you here to help to see or to say you know better ( try face book)

Lets get together and bring back the place we once had

Yeah agree, I don't really see what you're talking about but have seen it mentioned before.

Maybe I'm not looking in the right threads?

I still see plenty of help still

I don't think it has gone to shit, I see members helping each other, healthy banter and some good piss taking and generosity. I personally had a very helpful member talk me through some ideas on the phone during the week, hour long phone call and very helpful.

He thought he was wrong once but he was mistaken.

To be totally honest he usually is close to the mark, and has helped me several times when I needed it so your comment is spot on, unless it is sarcastic but that wouldn't happen would it?

I reckon you are over reacting a bit, Jeremy.

I get help here every time I ask.

If I recall you used to put a fair effort into answering trim questions.

You only get out of this place what you put in.

Ignore the crap and help when you can and this place is great.

I think if you look at the right threads & ask the right questions there's lots for everyone to learn.

Take everything with a grain of salt.

And I think a lot of the arguing and shit stirring comes from guys who actually know each other and have spent time together because of the forum which I think is a great thing.

I've met some great blokes from the forum, and also Gene - see, shit stirring cause I know he knows I'm joking and will get a laugh out of it

GMHTORANA is up there with the best car forums around if not THE best  if i must say

This place is abit like a pub, you soon work out who's the one's to communicate with and who are the uptight wankers with a chip on their shoulder that you ignore.

All in all its a good place with a wealth of knowledge for the Torana Enthusiast.

To the casual observer the op is probably accurate.

Most of us have been chatting through this forum for years, have met in person at some stage, have each other on facey etc.... As said above the majority is moreso drinking in the shed banter and pisstaking as opposed to any form of attack.

Is it appropriate? I think so.

Does it go to far? Sometimes.

Would the forum be better without it? CERTAINLY NOT.

Cheers.

I must say that since I had my whinge about a similar thing here, probably best part of a year back, things have improved. There is a lot of friendly banter on here and you just go along for the ride with it.  Some good lads and funny pricks as well. As far as helpful goes, I asked for advice this week about a brand of cam and got the exact responses I needed to make an informed choice.  So it is still a very helpful place to be part of. Like someone said, the more you put in, the more you get out of it!  And maybe I am not as uptight as I used to be though on here and see more of the funny side now LOL...

So have you still got the 5000 Jermemy?

Cheers, Gerry

I've seen plenty of people display awesome generosity and take the time to help others work through issues (automotive and otherwise).

I suspect the OP doesn't visit often and feels alienated. Even the posts in this thread are trying to help him fit in and understand the place.

When I first joined the forum I thought WTF, some of these blokes will kill each other if they ever meet up but after a while I realised a lot of the shit throwing is all in the name of mate ship.

I'm sure most of us have made comments from time to time that someone has taken the wrong way or taken too seriously/personally.

Take your shit with a little salt and things will be fine.

As has been said: you get out what you put in.

Actually, this place is sort of like a TV series. If you don't tune in regularly you can easily lose the plot and feel like you need to go back to the start and watch the whole season to fill in the blanks.
