I was told by Mort that the HDT car left behind, became the test bed for Walkinshaw's aero. (No-one ever briefed Brock on that one I bet...) It then became one of the "Herbie Clip" cars. Likely back in Aust' now, but you never know! ;-)

Thanks for the information guys, appreciated.
Will keep you updated as things go. Paperwork and history being chased atm, at this stage it does look like an HDT shell upgraded by TWR, have a suspicion ran by surge power as their second generation attempt car as its all 1990/1991 spec. Surge power did run early group a spec cars for spa but this was 88 era and different design of compentry/chassis mods. Currently is conflicting information about this car being previously raced in Australia (has been claimed this chassis is already in australia???) so somewhere someone has an incorrect car.

Ok I was at Bowden's today and had a good chat about this with a mate who is an absolute encyclopedia of HDT commodores, he also showed me a few things on the 87 Bathurst winner. I showed him this thread and your post on tentenths.com. As a result I have a few questions.
1) Main roll bar hoop, where is it in relation to the B pillar?
2) Where exactly are the air jacks located?
3) Any sign of a HDT COMM _ chassis number stamp?
4) Is it a VK with a VL floor catalytic converter hump section welded in? Or a VL shell?
I'll send you a PM regarding his best guess so far as to what it is.

Hey mate!
Answers as follows:
1) Ever so slightly behind the b pillar.
2)Airjacks are located just inside the front guard where it faces up to the firewall/A pillar base and rear jacks. Rear jacks are located inboard, right on the centreline of the rear floor pan joint - exactly where the rear seat would be.
3)Will further check this detail
4)VL chassis.

This one was discovered in a shed over there last October. It is believed to be the Grice / Cullen car from Bathurst '85.
