Hi all, complete newbie here, Im midway through stripping out the interior for painting and new carpet and thought Id get rid of the old underdash air-cond while Im upside down.

Can anyone help with advice on getting it out. ? it looks like the mounting bracket is on top of the unit bolted to the underisde of the dash.

Do I REALLY have to deconstruct the dashboard to get to the aircon mounts. ?

Thanks in advance

Pics would be good ...
But in general ,I just undid the bolts from the side of the unit and lowered it down and then you can undo the bracket bolts which are attached to the lower but of the dash and no need to undo any of the dash unless I have misunderstood what type of unit you have ....

Yeah that's how I pulled out the last one I had.

Was a mk4.

Got a pretty penny for it on the bay to.

Hi guys, any assistance to remove the under dash aircon would be great, I'll attach pics, I have 2 9/16 bolts going through the heater/aircon box in the engine bay that look to go through the fire wall, the top bolt is turning but I suspect the nut is turning with it, so to get to the nut I need to remove the underdash aircon unit. I don't see what I have to do to remove this unit!

That's a vent box.

There are 6 captive studs with nuts/washers in the engine bay.

Undo the nuts & wriggle it out.

If the captive heads are turning you may be able to put some pressure on the inside to release the.

If the top center one is spinning, forget it! Grind the nut off & replace stud.
