Am having issues with my drivers side window fit and adjustment.

(LX hatchback)

All useful tips are most welcome.

Issue 1: the forward window channel upper attach point I suspect is bent (see picture)

Does any one have a picture or knows how this should be?

Issue 2: adjusting the mechanism is driving me nuts. (though the forward channel might be causing some of the issue)

It seems these channel adjustments are key in correct set up.

They can be adjusted up and down together and/or given some slope independently.

What does moving the the whole thing up and down do and what does changing the slope of it do?

Lowering the adjusting channel should raise the nose of the window.

Raising the channel should drop the nose of the window.

If the nose of the window drops too much the top rear corner of the window will come out of the bailey channel.

AFAIK the adjusting channel should be kept reasonably level however it is mainly a matter of fine tuning the adjustments to whatever works best to make the window close properly and with the least amount of effort to wind the window up or down.

the angle of the the tab on the runner looks a little "bent in" towards the chamfer on the runner, the 3  i looked at seems like the tab should be more or less parallel to it ? , but having said that when they were removed a little bit of bend might have happened in de construction...and it will probably change a little when adjusting when screwed in place at an initially pretty good position.

this might sound a bit stupid...run a little graphite powder inside the bailey channel with a cotton bud or something  where the glass touches..it makes it a bit more nice to get a feel for what is happening?...and it comes off easy enough

Michael,  I dismantled mine a while ago and will have a look tomorrow at what I have, to compare with bent (or not).  From memory (and it's not great) isn't there a plastic type sleeve in that section so that the window isn't rubbing on metal? Someone will know.  Cheers Ron

Push the glass forward into the channel and lift the back of the glass. Tighten the adjuster. Voila!

Thanks Ron, hope you can compare yours and get back to me.

Also thanks for the tips so far, I am pretty sure who ever dismantled the door initially was pretty rough and has bent that tab.
Will try all those tips out when I get back on the task.
I am not going to touch it for a few days as that mechanism and me are not on talking terms.

You have to install bailey channel in that metal channel.

Put the glass into the door

Push all the way up & make sure it is seated in the bailey channel rubber

Wind the window reg all the way up.

Fit the reg into the door

lower the glass about 2"

Fit the reg rollers into the glass runners

push glass all the way back up again

Fit the 'inside' slide, making sure the bolts are paralell with the door sill.

Go have a beer. :)

Cheers Dave and Col. All seems easy in print, must have been having a crook day that day.
Have two schools of thought on the bailey channel installation.
Was told initially to actually cut it at a 45 degree angle to slot into the top rear corner (rare spares video) which I have done on the passengers door which all fitted good (pictured above), however when I picked up the replacement channel I was told to slit the spine of it and just bend it round the corner. Thinking I will never get a square corner that way.
Thoughts?

Swear words don't usually come out until it's time to fit the door handle clips on a taxi. :)
