Hey guys I'm after some advise on what to do , I've noticed after going for a drive last night that when I pulled up a little puddle of oil was coming from sump . And I found that dipstick had blown sealent .. I run a holden 355 fresh engine . With little k&n filters on the rocker covers and no pvc value setup . I also saw a little bit of seeping of oil between inlet manifold and heads . Is the engine not breathing enough ?

Have you got a windage tray in the sump? Im sure the experts will chime in here but my 2 cents with the 355 I currently run is they breathe heavy. I went from -10 outlets in each rocker cover into 1 catch can. No joy. Then went to 2 catch cans. Not too bad but didnt like it still so I now run a vac pump.I have it set really low but no oil leaks. I also made a bracket to hold the dipstick in as it used to blow it out under wot before fitting the vac pump. From what I have experienced and been told by several engine builders is these things breath and have trouble getting it out. More so when not running a pcv as you notice it instead of it getting sucked through the intake and out the exhaust.

Nice engine bay btw

Just add the PCV. It should cure most of your leaks.
Reinstall your dipstick tube with a tiny bit of black silicone to seal it up where it enters the oil pan.
If you have oil coming out the top of the tube you may have a blow by problem. You can leave the dipstick out and make a cap for the tube if need be.

I don't get why so many people don't want to fit a pcv valve. You won't notice any loss of power if you have one. Without one, the blow by gases in the crank case will contaminate the oil a lot sooner, meaning more engine wear. Fitting a catch can without any way for clean air to enter the crank case doesn't work.

Any way that puts it inline between the rocker cover and the carb base. Most carbs will have a PCV port in the base plate. What carb are you using?

This is the ugly way to do it. I keep meaning to get something shinier but inertia is a killer.

I simply ran both my breather hoses into the air cleaner.  The 355 ran high 11's all day without any breathing problems at all. No oil in the air cleaner eitherl. I tried the Tpiece as above but it kept blowing the dipstick out so it need both breathers venting in the air cleaner..No oil leaks either..

My Ultra HP carb doesn't have a PCV port in it. I've picked up a carb spacer with a port in it, so the plan is to eventually fit that. In the meantime I've been simply running 2 breather caps on the rocker covers, no issues, but would still prefer to run a PCV anyway.

You want to have a breather cap on one rocker cover (or a hose from the air filter base to the rocker cover) and a pcv valve in the other rocker cover, with the hose going into a port in either the carb (after the butterflies) or the inlet manifold. This way there is fresh air being sucked through the crank case, removing the combustion gases. If you don't have clean air entering the crank case, those gases are mixing with the oil. If you want to use a catch can, run it in the pcv hose.

No sorry. The engine is out now and I have fit a new one,. The breathers simply vent into the aircleaner and I did not have to run a PCV valve. Simple fix and very effective. Hope this helps.

The easiest would probably be to fit a 90 degree fitting into the thread, and clamp a short piece of hose to it that the pcv valve can fit into. Doesn't your inlet manifold have any ports in it?

PCV only works at low RPM, doubt a correctly fitted PCV will fix shallow high RPM crank case breathing problems.

NO. Do not run anything off the brake booster vac line.
