On the hatch their street pan takes 5 litres to reach the ADD mark, including changing a Z160 filter.

Couple I've had were roughly 7 litres with big filter.Think had an early one that was 6 litres..still sucked buying 2 bottles.
Always used new hq tube/dipstick then modded hell out of them to fit efi extractors.
Long tube is usually commodre item.
Do know stock commodore item takes 5 litres.

Also if the pan was see though looking from the side where would the oil level be?? To the top of the pan, level with the bottom or the dip stick hole. XXmm from the top down?
Of course this is the only relevant question, it makes no difference if the pan has huge wings and holds 20 litres of oil, or if you have 12 oil coolers and 9 remote oil filters, it's the correct LEVEL you need to determine.
The level would be easy to measure if you have a sump off the engine, just fit the tube & dipstick and grab a ruler.

I'd start with 7 litres. Run it at idle and listen cos you will hear the crank slapping the oil if it's too much.. Add until you hear it slapping, then drain off accordingly.
Recalibrate your dipstick to suit.

The advice from high energy was to use the standard dipstick.
On the hatch their street pan takes 5 litres to reach the ADD mark, including changing a Z160 filter.
With Z160 filter change is 6 litres to the FULL mark.
As I said, the advice directly from High Energy was to use the original Torana dipstick and that this will read correctly.

at idle it is still not the quietest of exhausts with the 6lt in it atm i cant say i hear anything odd at all but not sure what oil slapping would sound like or how loud it would be???

Sound like a clonk clonk clonk. I used to run 6litres in a standard commodore 202 6 sump on the grease slapper with no issue.

Anyone with a sump, dipstick and tube off a Holden v8 can fill a sump to the full mark on the dipstick and measure how far down the sump Is the liquid.
My prediction is that the oil almost fills the hump section of the sump.

cheers that is some help,, does the flare on the tube sit level with the top of where its inserted or does it sit down in the hole if that makes sense?? would you say flare to full is about 82mm??
also if u have a sump off could you install one of them and fill the sump on level ground with a fluid of choice up to the full mark and measure from the gasket surface/top of the sump down to where the fluid is?? its the gap of air between the bottom of the block and where the fluid starts the would be extremely handy..

You will find that the flare does drop onto the tube, but your tube should do that too. So just mark your dipstick 8.5cm down from the flare and that is the full mark. As for the add mark..... that will vary depending on your sump capacity and oil pick up height.
