Foxes will favor the soft organs over flesh. When a fox kills it'll usually start with eating the tongue, neck or arse drinking as much blood as possible. It'll return many times waiting for the rest to get a little stinky and softer, taking more each time.

Doubt a fox could drag it that far ? And first night was leg and chest...

You may find there's more than one animal now visiting the kill.

Pretty sure she could take you down Gene ;)

Perhaps dno... Odd though i couldnt see any paw prints or claw dig ins in the dirt while dragging... So it was one big mother or a whole bunch that dragged it easily...

Whenever we have a problem at work we solve it by putting up a new sign. It might be worth a try.

By the way Gene, my dog drinks beer..... Game set and match, she is already more a man than you will ever be ;)

Damn Feral animals are smart too, you'll get it but you'll have to think like a fox. I remember when I was a kid we had a big pet shop, and this damn huge feral cat used to come in and kill birds (big old building that couldn't be cat proofed). Couldn't trap it, even with rabbit traps. We ended up using a massive fish hook and shark line and some Kangaroo meat, even that didn't work but the hook was straightened out and the cat never came back. Not sure how it straightened out a huge hook but it left some fur and flesh behind. That link I posted above had some soft catch rabbit style traps too, you may have to resort to those if you can't cage trap it. I don't think they put the animal in mortal danger, but you'll probably know it when it gets caught if you are home.

I wouldn't take drinking beer as being manly Skap. All I ever see beer doing to blokes is making them want to hang around each other more......I also remember reading a General (maybe Napoleon) gave his men beer rather than rum so they'd love each other rather than fight.

Thanks mate,

I am going to try the cage route first.... failing that, a friend has some jaw traps, but would rather not use those first in case it is someone's pet...... i will give them one chance :)

Blair is going to help me weld the two cages in the first post together and then i will just need to come up with a mechanism to shut the door I cut out and keep it shut once something goes in.  will be a big cage, 2mx0.9mx0.9m.

I see your point re beer... i was actually making a comparison to Cider, but since you mention it she also doesn't mind the occassional rumbo :)

Get a tiger.

Train it to eat dogs and cats and foxes.

Set it loose.

Problem solved.

I used to have a female Rotty when I lived on 10 acres, she lived on the front 2. Used to eat cats, foxes, possums. Wasn't all that interested in beef or chicken, liked dry food more. Barked at people on horses but ignored the horses, cows, sheep etc. Hated other dogs other than my Doberman, she tore into one once that came into our place, it got fixed but not sure how it got onto our property. Not sure how she came to be like that but she was, Vet thought it was because she was desexed too young. I never had a cat or fox or wild dog issue whilst I had her, and possums stayed the other sides of the fences. Dumbest dog I've ever seen though, but loved us and my Dobe. One day the next door neighbour came home to find the meter reader cowering in the yard - she'd had him cornered there for a long time until the neighbour came home and called her off, so good for anti-thieves as well. She was smart enough to know the next door neighbours though.

Thankfully i can be certain my bitch didnt do it, she is 35kgs now so would be capable...... Otherwise i dont think i would trust many dogs with livestock or poultry.
