Hi All     been on the forum for a while reading a lot of different member builds and threads.  Thought it was about time to start a build thread on my own car - a 1975 LH 4dr Sedan. Its been affectionately named LoHla (a play on both the LH model and a female)

It will recieve the usual strip down, rust repairs, modifcations and personalisations that all our cars get and with any luck i hope will be ready at the end of next year (but as we all know you cant rush these things LOL )

Below are pics on the day i picked it up... It was left at a mates place until i had room to bring it home... in the mean time i fully rewired a mates EH in turn he will help with the final welding of pieces as he is a fabricator by trade but all other work will pretty much be carried out by my Dad and I. This will be the third torana we have built together.    The first 2 were 20-25 years ago (both hatchbacks, my favourite being the first fuel injected hatchback VN Grp A bottom end with a T5 , power windows and walkinshaw wheels)

any way enjoy the pics

First one was just a A9X lookalike with a mild 308 , turbo 400 stage 2 shift kit and a 9". So nothing major....

Second one was cool. No flares , or spoilers etc. VN Group A bottom end. Banana manifold EFI. T 5 gearbox 9" diff , walkinshaw wheels. Prelude front seats. Modified rear seats. Alpine stereo. Power windows central locking. Commodore rear discs. HX calipers front. Loved that car. Was very different in its day. 1993. Will try and dig some photos up of it

G'day Justin,

I've been having a running "debate" on another forum on the subject of the LSA engine so I have to ask...

How the hell are you getting an LH Torana engineered with a supercharged 6.2L engine??????

I've been through the NCOP and NSWCOP and it's just way over the limit for both...

comes down to engineering... there is alot of stuff you have to do but is doable... new chassis rails etc..etc...  i wont go into it..

trust me... before a single dollar was spent i enquired and did all the paperwork etc...

Thanks mate, sounds like I might have to get the name of your engineer! ;)

BTW, if you don't mind me asking, did that engine come out of a F-Series HSV GTS?

And if so, what's the three-letter engine number prefix? Is it "CFU" or CFW"?

(I'm compiling a list)

Which makes the GTS it came from a "sports automatic" if my research was correct?

Thanks for that, looking forward to the progress, you seem to be right amongst it already!

yes was an auto.... it didnt sell real well being auto but i was lucky that i struck up a deal with the seller and bought engine only... cheapest way out compared to a crate motor... by the time you buy , engine ecu, loom, belts and pulleys, engine cover (if wanted) fuel pump carrier , sender unit (if wanted) , intercooler radiator, intercooler water pump, starter motor, alternator , AC compressor (if wanted) Air box, , MAF sensor etc...

few more pics

Bloody hell!

A LSA in a Torana is... well it is something more than amazing.

Why did you cut the dash out of it - other plans?

Cheers, TB

I'm doing a similar project, LSA except I'll be running a 4L60E. What sump & mounts did you use if you don't mind me asking?

as seen previously we had removed the Torana dash frame to make way for a new one...

Running a VE series 2 HSV E3 dash , including the HSV pod gauges, IQ touch screen radio with sat nav and all the other features that go along with that..
