Hi everyone, need your help. Opened a box from under my bench the other day and I found some seatbelts. I can't remember where I got them from but they are a little different to standard ones. These have an extra section on them that bolts to the B pillar and was usually on coupes. My hatchback that I have owned for more than 26 years came with standard one piece belts when I bought it. Did hatchbacks come with this other type of belt from new or is it off something else? It has GM on the press button section so they are definitely a Holden seatbelt and appear to be a late 70's style.

The piece I am talking about is on the right of the photo.

The belt support strap (the piece your refer to as being on the right in the pic) will bolt up to the roof rail as the HQ/J/X Coupe does not have a B pillar.

Judging by the buckle I'd say that belt is HQ vintage.

Hi Dave,

That was my thought too, if it isn't a hatchback belt then is it a HQ/J/X coupe belt? I've never wrecked one of those before so I'm not sure how or where I picked these belts up.

I reckon its fraud of some description too, just looking at that rubbery thing that covers the pillar bolt.

It says GM on the release button so to me it's either a torana or a monaro belt. What I was hoping for was someone with a very stock original car to tell me if it was a seatbelt that was new on hatchbacks. If it is I might clean it up and put it on my hatchback. If it is a monaro  belt then I will put on fleabay so a Monaro owner may be able to use it.

Just realised I didn't take a photo of the stork it was attached to.

My hatch had these installed. Still have them in the shed somewhere. Not sure if they are original or not though?

HX LE. Belts are similar but the retractor mech isn't identical to the one pictured by the OP.
