Hey guys.

Anyone made an LJ Chassis Kit themselves or had one made. The CRS Kit seems butt ugly and a ripoff but not sure if its just easier or not? Any help or pics would be appreciated.

Cheers

I have seen a very tidy looking chassis kit a bloke on FB has done on his own car.

I don't have any pics of it but it is basically C channel cut to the contour of the floor.

you could bolt in or weld it in.

It looks awesome and tidies up the ugly looking std rails, while not making it twice as wide with the normal bolt it kits available.

Even though I dont have one, I wouldnt call the CRS kit a ripoff, after all it comes with an engineeres cert, so if you need one of them then its probably fairly cheap.

That photo shows when it was first put on and only spot welded in place.

Its now fully welded but still a few other jobs to do on the car before its all finished and painted but I will be sure to get photos once its done. Will be far stronger and look far better than the bolt in crs kit.

Im going with efi 304, 4 speed auto and bw diff from a VN wagon, engineer was ok with the 5ltr but apparently 5.7 is no go.

So what does that go over the stock chassis section things and get welded on?

Not sure if this is any help,

but I remember back in the 80's,

a drag racer welded 8" triangles of 1/8" steel sheet to all pillars and horizontal rib sections, in the interior of the XU1,

and still showed me the cracks around the windscreen pillars.

But fair to say, the motor was a big port headed 350 chev motor, which the heads were huge.

The racers today use different chassis now.
