Came across this Photo on Facebook

DJ in his Zupps LJ XU1, I assume its the EX HDT LJ XU1, if you look hard the seat belt hole on the left passenger side, (inside the car) looks to be in the right spot for a Aug-Sept 1972 Adelaide Built LJ Car.

Now I was told DJ had two LJ XU1's

One he later turned in to a V8 Sports Sedan later on and the Ex HDT LJ XU1, so which car this one is, is the million $$$$$$$ Question

And the end of the Day

which LJ XU1 is this one, DJ has put a 6 over the 7 for what ever reason, so it reads 16 instead of 17

That's the ZUPPS sponsored car.

The ex HDT one was the one that Dick ran in Peter Shearer Menswear sponsorship (after Dick lost his Zupps sponsorship ) that was previously owned by Barry Nixon Smith. That's the one dad bought off Dick. When dad bought the car Barry came knocking on dads door as Dick sold the car to dad with the HDT weber induction system still on the car which Barry had apparently not sold with the car but loaned to Dick. Dad told Barry to sort it out with Dick.. Been wanting to talk to Barry about it to confirm all this but this above is what dad told me before he died.

I reckon it's an early '72 XU1 with the seat belt bolt holes closer to the B pillar.

The torana Al posted is a 1969 gtr brisbane built purchased by Dick in December 1969 for 1970,Late in 1970 Dick modified the gtr to a lc XU1 with engine, boot spoiler and front end after that the gtr had a facelift to become lj xu1...........Then Dick received a early 1973 brisbane built xu1 from john zupps the 1969 gtr was turned into a sports sedan with a 308.

All information is in the book written by Bill Tuckey The Unforgiving Minute.

Cheers

Interesting! Pic of car #16 does not appear to be any front seats. No sign of a backrest behind Dick's shoulder?

post-7283-0-10057900-1456997088.jpg

Car #10 no headrests visible so LC front seats?

post-7283-0-65805500-1457079040.jpg

Car #17 has LJ seat head rests

Car #4D also has LJ seat headrests and original type LJ door mirror.

On the quarter vent and side windows, actually all the windows have this, you have the name Pilkington etched in the glass their is also a dot above one of the letters if the dot is located above the second letter it's a 72 like wise if the dot is above the third letter its a 73 see if you can zoom in and find it
