Hi all, just got the car into my garage at about 9 last night after waiting 3 hours for a tow :0.
Anyway here are some pics of the shell (not the best pics), gonna be a little while till the wheels start turning gotta go though all the parts and figure out what is needed to buy. The smile hasn't left my face since it was put in my garage so im looking forward to the late nights and bruised knuckles!!

Looks like a decent starting point mate! Do you have any history on the car? What are your plans for it?

Yea, It's a nice blank canvas to start with. At the moment trying to organize a engine and paint job and I think we are keen to keep it pretty standard, might change a few bits here and there.

it does have a bit of history but I gave all the paperwork and tags to my old man to keep away from the car (just Incase the worse was to happen). From what I remember it came from a rural dealer near geelong devaualle blue I believe with black slate trim. I also have the first rego and owners details in the car books.

Well the weekend was 2 long days of sanding and removing surface rust.
the roof has had a serious clean and scrap just waiting on some rust protection coating to go over it, next need to weld in the new boot pan, then i think this ready for the body shop.

still in the process of organising what parts we need, im unsure whether to use the orignal parts (need a good refurb) or just go new with rare spares? any opinions? Im leaning towards new since its down to a blank canvas might aswell go new?

any some crappy pics.

Did the car come with its original donk? If so, what is the cast date?

Sadly it doesn't have the original engine. It has a slr5000 block but the numbers don't match with this car (later date). I'll get a pick of the engine numbers tonight.

Cool stuff mate, looking forward to seeing how this unfolds. Some people are wary of displaying full numbers on the internerd though, there are some devious mongrels about. Just saying. :-)

Didn't even think about that cheers. What can they do with the numbers anyway? Make fake tags?

All good mate. That engine you have now sounds like an LX donk.

Just may claim something is not what it is with your numbers, but don't mean to sound scare-mongering, just thought it worth mentioning. More pics please! :-)

Not much has changed from last time, decided I'm taking the panels back to metal just for peace of mind. Found rust in bonnet hinge and nose cone.

Previous owner sprayed hi fill so just have to remove that and prime the surface. Hopefully no ugly surprises.

Also got a rotisserie just gotta assemble it.

Lots and lots to do

been a bit absent, went on a couple of holidays so nothing much has changed.

sanded the rest of the drivers side and half the rear down to metal thankfully no surprises found.

also got the roof done, found a weird small dent above the drivers side, no clue how you dent something up there

FF82ED84-8C7B-4F57-88C8-DF10CF1753FF.jpg

found some original paint while sanding and also found some rust behind the passanger side bonnet hinge.

I'm just using strip it discs, not the quickest way but I like doing as much as I can myself.
I'm sure there are better ways to do it, I looked into dustless blasting a while ago and that looked to be a good choice, but I haven't tried it myself.
