Slowly cutting bits of rust out and repairing, Here are photos of chassis rail repairs I have done. Not perfect but am going to spray body deadener under car which will hopefully hide any imperfections, blemishes, cheers paul.

Started paint stripping ready for sandblasting and etch prime. Glad I decided to go back to bare metal as I couldn't believe the amount of bog under paint on the guards, doors bonnet and boot are pretty good. I/m going to bite the bullet and splash out for a new set of guards as these ones are too far gone and it will be more cost (and time) effective to get new ones, Paul

Have taken some long service leave to get stuck into project and got following jobs done:

  • Re-did floor pans and trans tunnel patches done by previous owner as although were solid, wasn't really happy with  them.
  • Fitted drivers side sill
  • Used half a roll of mig wire to make up end cap for sill
  • Clean all bog and old paint from underside of floor
  • Seam sealed, painted and body deadener on same

more photos to follow as can only post a few photos at a time,

Paul

Gene, I'm using one that came with car when I brought it and pretty sure is LJ as ignition is on steering column, whereas LC is on dash, is that correct?  Will it make a difference to which one I use? thanks paul

Havn't updated thread for a while but have been busy working on project. Filled in speaker holes, had a panel beater mate give me a hand putting car back together and we discovered rhs chassis rail was out about 10mm. With a few gentle "taps" now all sorted, wasn't happy with how I fitted drivers side sill so we fitted a new one, in the process realised inside "A" pillar was cracked near the floor pan so repaired that. Fitted a new inner guard caus the old one was #@$%^&. Welded new guards/nose cone in and made sure all the doors, bonnet, headlights/grill fit. Repaired drip rail on drivers side. Next he needs to fix up wheel arch pass side then start body filler, 2K high build primer. Hope to have it painted din a few weeks - Paul.

That looks like it's going along well. Good to have panel beating mates to help.

It’s always nice when they get to be all in one colour, gives a nice preview of the finished product!

We painted the white today, gloss not too bad off the gun but as its acrylic it will be wet sanded, buffed and polished at a later date, next stage will be blackouts, tossing up whether to put on the rear spoiler or not.
