Thanks guys, appreciate the encouragement, jeff the trolley you lent me has been invaluable, i'll make sure you get it back when I have finished painting.

No worries Paul, glad it's been useful. :) Not really fussed about getting in back - especially if a new home can be found for it via this forum when the time comes.

Awesome job with the paint work... :spoton:

Got a fair bit done this weekend, car is finally back on its wheels after a few years on rotisserie/trolley, you forget how low the lc/lj's sit. Roof is much lower than the HR wagon I have. Diff, engine and gear box are back in, also painted and stone chipped the fuel tank. Wasn't happy with a small section of engine back and tried to fix, but paint ended up "frying" so will re-do that section in next few weeks. Wasn't sure about having a white engine bay as shows all the dirt ect, but after dropping the motor in I think will really make any chrome or gal parts shine. Hope to have car on the road by end of the year, paul.

Paint has been cut and polished, blackouts done, will do the doors once all the mechanicals and wiring has been done to make it easier. Photos don't show how well the paint came up.

Yes, dosn't give a true indication of how they will look as car is up on blocks, brought them from Canterbury Tyres and Wheels in Bayswater, Melbourne, went for 15's as have a better tyre choice. Cheers paul

Graham, I have fitted 225/50 15's on rear and 195/50 x 15's on front, not sure how they will look on the road when car is up and running but saw that combo on an EH sedan a few years back and looked awesome. I might end up changing to 205/50's on the front. As you can tell they are more like a GTS rim rather than sprintmaster, (they also sell 13" sprintmasters). Look at their ebay store for sizes ect., I initially had 8" rims on rear which had a deeper dish but I think would have scrubbed out on the guards, so swapped for 7" rims all round. There is a photo on the first page of my thread with this combo, but didn't have engine fitted ect. Best of luck and let me know if you need help with anything else.

Thanks for the info Paul.
I am also going to fit 195’s on the front but will probably run a 205 on the back.Trying to get my car my to sit nice and low at the back.
Have you modified your rear guard lips?
Really looking forward to seeing your car finished.Your thread has been a really great read.
Cheers Graham.

Graham, no the lips had already been rolled when I brought the car and going back to 7" rims, they fit no worries, having said that the car hasn't been on the road yet so time will tell, cheers paul

Havn't given an update for a while as have been doing a lot of "behind the scenes" jobs like getting things chromed, seat retrimmed ect. Picture of seats off to trimmers to be re-done. Headlining bows I had were off an LX/Lh or similar so sourced a good set of LC/LJ off gumtree. Wasn't confident about installing rooflining so trimmer came around this morning and fitted, came up pretty good I reckon, cheers paul.

Now that weather is getting better and daylight savings has kicked in, time to get stuck back into torana project. Made up a rear parcel shelf and installed sound deadener/insulation to floor pans. (orange cable in main cable to battery in boot)

Hi Paul,

looking great, glad you got some hood lining rods.

How long did it take the guy to fit hood lining? I did mine and took me about 6 weeks. :-)

Almost there, keep at it.

Marty

Marty took him about 3 hrs but im not real happy with it as I have had to re-do sections around windscreens where it wasn't glued around edge or lip, had been stretched tight directly to edge with nowhere for seal to sit, which would cause rear windscreen to pop out according to windscreen guy. Still not happy with sections on rear windscreen so may have to do them again. I would try and do myself next time, but at least the trimmer came around to fit at my place, as other people I spoke to wanted car to be trailered to their factory. I'll keep you posted once windscreens are fitted, cheers paul. P.S. the measurement you gave me helped in putting rods in correct locations, thanks for that.

Hi Paul,

Which brand of insulation did you use?
Looks like it fitted nicely.Quite a few brands out there, good to get some feedback from someone who has fitted the stuff.

Cheers Graham.

Hi Graham, the sound deadener I used was just a generic one I brought from Allcar Carpets here in Melbourne who I will be getting to make my carpet sets. It cost around $200 to do the entire floor, including the rear seat panel. It is very user friendly as is soft/plyable and can be pushed into all the different contours and shapes on floor pan, I might even put some inside doors and rear 1/4's. I have also used a brand called "DEDNA" and Tru Fit Carpets in Dandenong advertise a similar product in street machine, but haven't used their product. I would suggest trying to find source some at your local motor trimmer as it may be a bit pricey to have sent to Qld due to weight, or check out www.trufitcarpets.com.au. Hope this helps paul.

Picked up a few bits n bobs from the chromeplater yesterday, really happy with how they came up, (don't get much for $200 nowadays do you!)
