G'day All

Most of you will know that GMH made an 8 minute commercial for the LX Hatchback early in 1976 and some of you might know that Gil Tucker and Judy McBurney starred in that story-like add

Well back in 2009 when we got off the Spirit of Tasmania back in Port Melbourne on our way home from our Torana Tassie Tour, I had arranged to meet up with Gil Tucker and he was more than happy to sign my Hatch Hutch

Gil-3.jpg

Even back then I wanted to try and find Judy McBurney to get her signature also on my Hatch Hutch

As I am not getting any younger,    this year I made a final effort to find her and

After a short 6 hour drive to the NSW Central Coast we met up and she signed my Hatch Hutch  :spoton:

My wife and I along with a young fella we have staying with us were made to feel most comfortable and Judy was so gracious to invite us to stay the night  :clappin:

At an age that I know but will not reveal ( never reveal a ladies age ), she still has a great figure and still softly spoken

BTW

On our way to Judy's, we called into Goulburn to fuel up and get some other stuff and just happened to park alongside this little beauty  :spoton:

Great weekend but a bit tiring for this ol' fella

Think there was one on there recently for 1500 but realistically I'd say 500 to 750 depending on condition. But who knows with 5K steering wheels for sale

Vaguely mate as that was the only add she did for GMH although she did say that she knew Peter Brock and that he had taken her for a "fast" lap of a race circuit

Question
What would a hatch hutch be worth that is still in the packet it came in with the car when new?

Brett is probably right on target for that with a guestamate of 500-750 and for me, more like the top side of that

We picked up a NOS one from Charlie McCarron who is no slouch on cheap prices for $350

That was for the missus' Hatch and was the reverse colour of mine ie it had blue top/sides with red door

It may be advisable to do what we did and that is to take it out now, but do not unwrap it, leave it out in the sun and after warming up, "carefully" & "slowly" unwrap it then put it on a Hatch and wash with warm soapy water

This is if it has been sitting in the bag for years like Charlie's one was

Great story and photos Barry. In the photo with judy whereabouts exactly is your left hand, everybody looks very happy!

Treat a lady like a lady should be treated, arm was around her and hand on her waist and yes, we were all very happy as she enjoyed our company as much as we enjoyed hers

The only thing I didn't enjoy about the weekend was the outer Sydney traffic and that bloody Pennant Hills Road traffic

Central Coast was also a bit on the busy side

Think there was one on there recently for 1500 but realistically I'd say 500 to 750 depending on condition. But who knows with 5K steering wheels for sale

I offered him $300 for the steering wheel but  :wtf:  He knocked me back and I even gave him a bit of advice to lower the price by $4,300

I have the Program Change Request paperwork for the TAIL-TENT for HJ-WB van. It is dated 26/6/75, initial request 28/5/75 and effective ASAP. It says:

Description of change: "Add accessory to product program of hutch to fit over raised tailgate of panel van."

Reason For Change: "Increase product range - similar to unit to be available on LX Hatchback."

Vendor quote: 100 units, $27.80, 250 units $26.63, 500 units, $25.86.

So whilst the tail-tent would have been available before LX release it appears the LX hatch-hutch was designed and approved way before the Holden van one.

The Hatch Hutch was a US derived idea from around 1973/ 1974.

The were used on Chevy Nova's, GTO's and Apollo's.

Here are a couple of pics..
