I am upgrading my fuel line to 1/2 inch as recommended by my engine builder but I would like to hear what line and pumps others are using. The engine is a Hydraulic Roller 355 with early heads.

I am retaining the standard line as a return line but should I use aluminium/stainless tubing or braided fuel line? I like the idea of braided as I can install it myself or is there a reason I should stick with tubing?

Fuel pumps recommended are the Holley Black or aeromotive A100. Is anyone else got an opinion on what is the better of those 2? I don't really want anything too loud but ease of installation is also to be looked at.

I can't comment on the Aeromotive, but the Holley Black is loud even when mounted on insulators.

I think you mean Aeromotive A1000, half inch line seams a bit large for a strong 355, 3/8 would be more than adequate. Half inch is normally used for more than 600 hp. Agree with the Aeromotive, inline fuel pumps are normally much quieter.

Have you looked at the Aeromotive intank pumps. Quiet as a mouse. Love mine. As other said with the holley black. Mine was noisy still. Magnafuel was just as bad.
This new one was easy to fit and is more than enough pump for my needs. No more fuel problems here :D

Got holley black in boot of vh commodore 10mm thick rubber grommet insulation...still buzzes a bit can hear it over ticking of the blinkers when they're on.

If had it under car beside tank probably wouldn't hear it unless stopped at lights. Will eventually do that when adding a 'fuel tank sump' to void fuel starvation when tank gets low or fuel sloshing

I'd go 3/8th line & Aeromotive intank fuel pump if spending extra as they're really nice & look like worth the coin...

If you do go holley black have good fuel filters before & after f/pump also add fuel sump tank...will solve most issues.

Either setup be fine just intank aeromotive neater & quieter.

I use a mechanical standard factory holden AC fuel pump body and a Ozrace fuel pump adaptor it will support over 500 hp comfortably and being a genuine L34 It already has a factory 3/8 fuel line,..i'm also running factory early L34 heads on my 355 stroker which runs 11.1s@ 122 mph,..i didn't want to be drilling holes in the car or having a electric fuel pump buzzing away at me..

has anyone fitted an Aeromotive Phantom system to their torana? I like the idea of an in-tank baffled pump as I am limited for external areas to put a surge tank with a hatch & this system "should" prevent the need of mods to the standard tank.

I have been told by aeromotive that a Phantom 340 Carby kit P/N 17254 or Phantom 200 P/N 17255 is what I would need. (I can't post up a link for some reason?)

its handy getting the internal pump, with filter, regulator, wiring kit, pressure gauge all in 1 kit and would probably only end up being the same cost if I bought it all separately or went with a modified tank.

I fitted one as well to a std tank, the most important part is locating the top hole correctly such that the connections are oriented the right way.

I went the same way as Unclefesta..

Ozrace modified AC mechanical pump.

I installed 1/2" hard line between pump to the tank so the pump isn't working too hard pulling fuel through the line but kept the factory sender.

N/A 530hp motor..412 at the wheels.

No problems at WOT! Works perfect & so simple to do.

Why change a proven fuel delivery system with a noisy electric fuel pump!
